But with good reason. 50 cent sells albums and draws viewers to their station. GNR doesn't - at least not the new band. All it takes to change that is a good single and the album coming out.

Because MTV was all over the 2002 "comeback" and pretty much got burned when it fizzled out and got canceled. At this point I don't think they really care.

True that, in fact untill teh official release date is set in stone, and a full barage of concerts are gonna be happening in the states, thier is no reason for MTV, US to say much other than report here and there of things goin on. If Im not mistaken Rock in AM ir IN whatever it as that was sreamed, was in fact hosted by a division of MTV in GErmany. SO the US MTV may suck but at the same time MTV is global, we just get the crap and rap!

Well after his notorious lack of info (I mean they do not even have a homepage) and his constant media silence Axl pretty much created this bed himself and now he has to sleep in it.
He lost a lot of credibility in all of the media. I mean by never giving any GnR news of interviews to them you cannot suddenly expect that they are all over you when you need them. It?s a two way street you know.
But I think the media are definitely want to jump on the GnR publicity-train again, they just need a reason to do so.
So it will take a little time, and stuff like a new CD and an earth shattering hit single (from Paradise City and Sweet Child calibre) to shake things up again in the media.
And it has to be something that we haven?t heard yet cause anybody who thinks one of the new songs that we?ve heard so far is gonna do the job?..dream on it just aint gonna happen. No bashing, I love the band and so do the most people on these forums, the problem is to reach the other 99,9% of the music fans out there. Just a realistic point of view.

diablo280273 sums it up well.  Until Axl can convince the media that he still has something to offer they have no reason to care.  Look at the lack of coverage for the current Stones tour, and thats with a lineup thats been unchanged for ages, plus they put an album out last year.  The problem for the stones is that, as far as the media is concerned, they are yesterday's news.  Until Chinese Democracy is released, so are Guns N' Roses.

REALLY noW?.lol thats why they sold out to have thier show shown in one of americas(sad But true) daytime spaop opears One live to live, and I dunno know about aotehr places but her in the US it was big news for a while when the the new stones albums were coming out.  I think when the time is right(fall), and there is a true release date for CD, than things will blow up. There is no need today(this  close to CD) to argue those questions.

ADn I guarenfuckintee that once CD is announced for release and the wheels are set in motion, (btw I think they already are).

Uh, yeah. How much longer can this band tour with no new album and a setlist that is virtually no different than the one they were playing 4 years ago? Appetite is a great album but you can't milk it as your touring cash cow without looking like a bad nostalgia act. Yeah they added IRS and Better (and once in a blue moon TWAT) but they need to get an album out at some point. I'll be very skeptical of this group come years end if they are still doing the Appetite Nostalgia Revue Tour.
