I see alot of people complaining about the Appetite heavy setlists (why, I'm still not sure) so my question is this. Would you be more satisfied with a reversed setlist (ie: mainly Illusion songs peppered with only 4 Appetite songs)?

Perhaps a setlist like this:

Welcome to the Jungle
You Could Be Mine
Live & Let Die
Bad Obsession
Pretty Tied Up
Better
Civil War
Knockin' On Heaven's Door
Sweet Child O'Mine
The Blues
I.R.S.
Don't Cry
Yesterdays
Dead Horse
November Rain
Chinese Democracy
There Was a Time
Nightrain

I think people would be happier because it would not only provide a bit of variation, it would also be a bit more daring and adventurous. AFD is proven and hallowed turf to a degree.

Some areas of UYI still remain somewhat unexplored and could be more suitable material for this lineup

Yes, yes, indeed.

They could play something like Right Next Door to Hell or Don't Damn Me.

more Appetite songs brings the inevitable comparison of Slash vs. new guitarists. And new songs breaks the integrity of the setlist. UYI's mark the passage from a hard rock band to a fresh sounding, experimental rock band.

I won't propose a setlist, because it's an endless discussion, but I would be very glad to hear:

1. Locomotive (3 different guitars solos and very interesting guitar tones at the end + piano)
2. Breakdown (same reason)
3. Double Talkin Jive (it would be interesting to hear with new layers of sound and 3 guitars)
4. Estranged
5. Coma

and I will be happy if thet drop "Knocking on Heavens Door" and "Live and Let Die". they are not even original GNR songs! I'd rather hear two original GNR songs from UYI instead of them.

All those Illusion songs can't work without Slash because he is a genius.

Why can AFD work and not UYI songs Huh?

Lol i discovered the other day that izzy doesn't play on civil war, i was quite surprised. Its a cornerstone of the UYI II album and lacks the izz-man. Anyhoo i Digress.

I would like to see civil war and estranged. Possibly if izzy joins them do like some of his UYI songs like "Right Next Door to hell" or "Double Talkin.." or "Pretty tied up".

As for KOHD, that song lift's the roof when played. LALD is a little too close to the orginal with all the synths and none of the guitarist's attempted the like neck run up the way slash did (and i do - braggin' I know) in 2001/2. (Can't comment on 2006 as there are no really decent videos of it yet.)

Wow, how weird. I've also heard people saying SCOM wouldn't work without Slash, but the guitar on SCOM ROCKS! (The song itself is shit nowadays though, but that's besides the point, cos it's to do with the keyboards, not guitars)

Well, that is just your opinion.
We shouldn't be thinking what they should bring out of the OLD catalogue, but what they should bring out of the NEW  Undecided

1. Locomotive
2. Breakdown
3. Double Talkin Jive
4. Estranged
5. Coma

All these songs have a  "classic-rock" vibe. The new-gn'r represents more industrial sound(and I actually can't imagine Finck doing any of those, come on, him doing Breakdown or Locomotive? no), so that's my reason why they're not playing those.

i think that first list was too heavy on UYI. i like the current  setlest.  most people going to the shows either want to see 1.appetite (old gnr) or 2.the new band. its just the die hards that want to hear UYI's. the only UYI song i really miss hearing is 'pretty tied up'...i think thats pretty much agreed across the board.

don't know about that setlist but it'd be cool if they changed it around a little more. The Black Crowes and Pearl Jam, for example, never play the same set twice while on tour. Guns should take a cue from those guys.

personally i'd love to see them add stuff like Coma or Civil War or Sympathy For The Devil.

for the people like us who sees 5 shows in one month and download 'em all, yeah it' be cool

for the simple guy who just wanna go to a GNR concert - meaning 80% of the crowd - , he'd be mad not to get his favorite tunes, which are, admit, mostly appetite and some UYI hits.
