The lateness thing is bullshit, pure and simple.  I understand that, so that's why I choose not to go to a GnR concert, because I'm too old for that shit.  I'm sure a lot of casual fans though, don't realize how late he will be.

People have kids and jobs, or sometimes they are bringing their kids to the concert!  And every city is not New York, some places it can be very difficult to find transportation home at a late hour.  And good point, someone mentioned all the people that work at the venue, that's a big cleanup job after, why should they have to do it 2 hours after they were supposed to?

And the big wait between opener and headliner?  Fuck that!  That would drive me crazy.  I don't know what part of Axl's pathological personality disorder makes him inable to be on time but it's inexcusable.

Axl Rose will hit the stage when he fucking wants to.

You know why...? Because he's a fucking rock star. A REAL rock star. Not your "flavour of the month" wannabe...

Personally, I wouldn't have him any other way............

Hell fucking yeah, that's what I've been trying to articulate.
Thanks.

But it's not a "lateness thing." If everyone knows he comes on at 11 or midnight, then that's the time you show up.. It's your call whether to go to the show. Yes, I know that doesn't help uf you need to go to work the next day, or have kids, etc. But that's how it is.
Look at it like a kick ass midnight movie.

Just read a great review of Pearl Jam doin a show here in the MYC area at coninental arena across the river in NJ, what struck me was the venue tried to be the ones who said when the show was over, apparently they have a 11pm curfew, so they threw on the houselights, and eddie vedder and comp, didnt stop thier, they kept playing, did something like 7 tunes . lol So why do people give axl shit, I thnk other bands are trying to emulate GNR  and give a fuck you to the suites that think they can control ROCKN ROLL, and how concerts shoould go and contraints.

See thing is axl has always been that way, from the days in the clubs, to ow. FOr awhile bands got pussy whipped by the companies and corpirations. And conformed tot he rules. SO not RNR!

Axl is back and Rock is getting a kick in the ass again, and the suites are now seeing rebleion again even from other artists who comand the audience, and bands feed off audiences .

IF your so damn worried about your own life and work and time, personally I dont think you should go to a rock concert, cause these have always been for the fans , the young at heart the fearless. NOt about a band giving a fuck when you have to be at work or about caring aboutr your responsiblility, thats your shit man.

A bands responibility is to fuckng rock out and give people who want to expierence it a greeat time and show.

Read this review of Peal Jam:http://www.nypost.com/entertainment/64612.htm

June 3, 2006 -- BY the 30th song - well- past the 11 p.m. curfew at the Meadowlands Arena - Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder won a battle of wills with the hall's management, which attempted to tell the Seattle band when its concert was over by turning on the house lights.........................................

Thats RNR!!!!!!!

ANd you have to thank Axl and GNR for briging attitute about shows for that!

Bit of a difference trying to compare a show that most likely started around 9 and pushed on to 12 with a show that often doesn't start till 11 something and sometimes pushes till almost 2. People would not complain a bit if Axl played until around 12, as that is not that unreasonable time-wise for someone who has to work the next morning. It is when you don't leave the venue until well past 1 that most normal, non-message board people lose their patience or get grumpy.

Long story short is that Axl either figures out how to move up his body clock to think that 9:30-10 is like 12, or he lives with the fact he will get universally shitty reviews from critics who are pissed off about the wait until GNR goes on. The choice is entirely his, but it is retarded to sabatoge your reviews and casual fans perceptions of the shows because they were pissed about the long wait until they went on stage.

PERception becomes reality, and truth is for years this has been argued about , as far as GNR.

When I was 21 and saw GNR at MSg for the 3 shows they did there, the tix said "around 8pm". They didnt go on till midnight and I believe it was almost 1am at oine of the shows. Mind you I had a job to go to and stuff to do, but ya know what, it was all worth it, and after it was over and it was almsot 3am, all I took from it was how fuckng kick ass expiernece it was. And truth is I would do it all over!. WEl I guess I still do at 36!

Let's separate things here, one thing is the local band stick it to the hall's management, like Vedder did, and another arrive wherever they (he) want(s). I wouldn't have a problem with this if it were 1988, but it's 2006 and things aren't exactly the same. ?

I dunno man, dont know what to tell you, in the foreseable future I dont see GNR conforming . I supose those so strongly offended by thier actions shouldnt bother buying tix to shows. And as things are goin Im sure someone else will be there to take that tix.And Im not even trying to be rude or mean or insensitive, but like I said this hasw been argued for yrs, and apparently this time around the band is doin these shows on thier trems and are happy at the audience reponse(when in the end thast all that matters), not some critic who got pissed off he(she) had to be up late.

i dont care when he hits the stage.

just dont make us get i the venue that early.

people don't go to nightclubs at 10pm. they go at 1 am cause that's when it starts.

so if axl wanna play at 11pm, tell the audience to get in at 10.30 and fuck the opening band :-;-)

You know that's part of the job.. Have you ever worked on festivals or concerts? Well I can tell you from experience that you don't have any specified working hours. You work till the show ends and sometimes it ends earlier and sometimes later but the main point is that if you had ever worked on concert or festival you would know that there is really isn't anykind of schedule and Im 100% sure the people working there know it too..

That's really not the point, that there is no set "end time" for the job.  Your job ends when the show ends and GnR's show's are ending one, two hours after they are supposed to.  So say you run a food stand or a merch shop at the venue, are you paying your employees extra hours because the band is holding everything up?

If Axl was honest about it, he would schedule shows in places that would allow him to advertise an 11pm start time.  The big venues would not let him do that of course, so, less money for the band.  And less people buying tickets for a late-advertised show.  There is no rational way to defend this, so I don't know why you are trying.
