http://music.msn.com/music/article.aspx?news=224536>1=7702Well they voted Definitely Maybe as the greatest record ever. The debate of being better than the Beatles has gone on for awhile. I dont get it. If you ask me Oasis sound inferior to the Beatles and many, many other bands. So again..why Oasis?

Where was Judas Priest on the list? Black Sabbath? Iron Maiden? Britain has tons of better bands than those pop groups.

Probably because most of those who voted came of age during Oasis' peak.

Definately Maybe is up there with Appetite. It's a similar kind of no nonsense rock n' roll vibe that defined a lifestyle. Amazing album. I would have went with Houses Of The Holy but it's still a worthy winner.

its not the best album by a british band ever (its definetly up there tho). it is however the greatest british album ever; if you get the distinction.
the beatles were universal and many of the other bands that would compete are international sounding, whereas definitly maybe has a very british feel to it - sort of like certain records by The Kinks.
You might wanna change the name of the thread. Its pretty misleading.

I'll keep adding more bands. Deep Purple Rainbow Motorhead Budgie Venom Bruce Dickinson Led Zeppelin Man, the UK has tons of great bands that kill Oasis.

Motorhead were probably the most important band for speed metal, which later evolved into thrash metal. Oasis were recycling old ideas, while Motorhead made new ideas. Motorhead gets a lot of respect from both metalheads and punks, which is really rare. Fans from all kinds of scenes love Motorhead.

Its a niche album, but Id vote "Close to the Edge" by Yes as the best Brit album.
Oasis, theyre alright but them earning that title just isnt right.
