the years to come

something that i've thought about alot and which doesn't seem to be talked about alot here, is the future of this new incarnation of guns n' roses. sure, chinese democracy will be very defining both for this new band and axl but then what? this band won't go away once chinese democracy is released, yes the wait will be over but the new era will have just begun. don't you all find it exciting to see this band grow into a permanent rock n' roll band and tour as one of the best damn bands on the planet, with axl rose being on top of his career once again? i think they will last a long time, they're all still pretty young and with the musical talent this group has combined, the stage presence of axl rose and the buzz the name guns n' roses alone creates, i think the sky is the limit for what this band is capable of accomplishing in the future. i think we will grow to love them more and more and we will have them around for a long time, this new era is just getting started. doesn't anyone else find this thought incredibly exciting?

Honestly, I wouldn't be suprised if this is the end for another long time. I just get the feeling that CD will come out, they will pull off the tour and then it will be another four or five years before anything else comes out. I know they say they have enough for three albums, but it seems like everyone says that now. VR said the same thing but it's taking them over two years to put out another one. I just would't get my hopes too high considering the past events (or lack thereof).

This is it, when the CD comes out and it gets killed in the press, alot of frustration and tempers will flare.
CD will get killed in reviews becuase of Axl and the name GNR.....
Alot of these members are hanging on with this: "Wait till the Album" attitude and I think if the album comes out and doesn't meet expectations, Guns N' Roses will end...and seriously Axl can't put another incarnation of GNR together and get away with it...not that he is getting away with it now, but you know...

Well when China switches to Democracy, they will suffer a hell of obstruction from reactionary activists from the inside as well as from the outside.
Anyways, IRS I believe we're about to witness it.

It's great that you know that already.. CD will be great even with the 6 songs we've heard so far.

Don't worry Boston Rose, Chinese Democracy will still sell millions and people will still show up to see the new band perform. You can take some comfort in a few bad reviews, which GnR has always received anyway, and cry when Chinese Democracy sells 3 or 4 times more worldwide than Contraband. Rolling Stone already said the leaks of IRS, Better and TWAT were already better than Contraband, so it seems like your theory about the press slamming GnR isn't really founded. Obviously there are people who already have their negative review written, all they need to do is insert the song titles. But those closeminded fucks can sit and cry while GnR continues to sell records and tickets to shows

It's going to get killed in the press....how can you not see that coming?
Live on the hopes that CD will sell 15 million records and be the biggest things since Sgt. Peppers, but I doubt it will happen...
Axl better hope this record is worth the wait...
The Rolling Stone magazine review of the songs was very encouraging, I just hope the rest of the world sees it that way....

Why in the hell do you and some other people keep saying that?? What do you base that on? What GNR album was ever killed in the press? Hell, even TSI was given a fair judgement but the band didn't care about the album at the time. Just because a few reporters complain about Axl showing up late and some fans and a few journalists complaining about the setlist doesn't mean CD is going to be crucified.

Im not concerned about the years to come.
I just want CD and perhaps a live gig , that'll be enough for me
After that, it'll be time for some new young guys to come on the scene and shake things up like Guns did in 87 or Nirvana in 91. The only other thing that would excite me as much is if the real Guns got back together, and hell, that might happen one day I reckon

it must suck to not find anything positive about the best damn band in the world. i don't know why every post i see from you is negative but it reeks of bitterness.

What if the album is genuinely, really good and it gets good to great reviews across the board? What a concept. Mainstream press seems to be gradually more accepting of present Axl and Guns N' Roses. I won't be so quick to say the album won't be well recieved...

I've been saying that for years. He wont be crucified. The media will welcome Axl back with open arms. They have missed him just as much as his hardcore fans have.

I am anxious to hear all three albums the band is working on. After that I'd like to see Axl do a piano ballad album, maybe as a solo record. I could see Axl doing something like that when he gets a little older.

I'd think that, barring some unforseen incident, GNR will stay out on the road for as long as they can after CD. Maybe a few breaks for additional recording/mastering of whatever material they have for the following album. I don't think they'll deliberately be planning any long absences because they don't have time on their side - I find it hard to imagine Axl attempting huge world tours in his 50s.
