Playing most of a solo out of tune is butchering. Sorry. I held out a lot of hope for Robin and thought maybe he got a bad rap, but he really isn't that good at all. Richard's NR solo was ace, Robins solo was like someone electrocuting a cat. His phrasing sucked, and every bent note was bent out of tune. HOnestly I think he's trying too hard to not do Slash style riffs and just missing the point entirely.

I'm saying that certain GnR songs lend themselves to a certain feel and Robin always sounds like he's trying way too hard to not play in that feel because it lands you in a very Slash-like area, which for better or worse is something you're giong to have to deal with when you're playing November Rain. His solo in Paitience souded great, so I know he can play in tune and actually carry a coherent phrase on the guitar.

Fortus' solo was killer, but he played it safe and made it sound like it should. Finck just needs to go with the fucking flow, he always sounds like he's rushing.

What we heard last night was actually the stage monitor mix, then someone realized it and switched to to the proper output on the board towards the end. Guitars are always down in the mix for monitors b/c of amp volume on the stage.
