I've kind of given up that we are going to hear any new songs ever, but does anyone else find it curious he keeps going through these concerts without even acknowledging the existance and potential release of CD. We keep going show after show with no mention at all about it, like some of those fans there may not be interested in hearing any sort of info about it.

I went to a Hammerstein show and loved it. This was a cool show, but there is part of me that is wishing he would have stayed home and spent this time working on the album and just finishing it. If the point of the 02 shows was to play together and gel as a band, than what is the point of this when they are doing nothing to promote the album at all. This was an awful big stage and forum to just ignore any info about the album. Just my opinion though.

For those worried about the negativity, remember one very important thing:

There are those that will NEVER, EVER be satisfied.

No matter what. ?They could play a 4 hour set, with every song ever recorded or slated to be on CD except one...

And they'd complain about the one song, Axl's notes 3 hours and 12 min into the set, Tommy's pants, and the color of Bumblefoot's guitar pick.

Smiley

So don't let it get you down.

I agree, I think he and the band put on
this was axl's chance to show the world his "masterpiece" chinese democracy but he fucking blew it . I love gnr and i like new gnr and i like the leaks ( i fucking posted them) but the old songs are so boring to me now...

It was a great fucking show, IMHO (other than the sucky mix).

He's not gonna "unveil" his masterpiece this way.  Nobody would.  It would be stupid.  The crowd would riot.

You, me, and the rest of the posters on this MB are not the "average" fan that's sitting at Lisbon.  The ones who know Jungle, SCOM, etc, etc.

The guy has to play the old stuff, especially now, until the new stuff is actually released.  He can sneak in some new stuff here and there, but...if he played ALL new stuff, the audience would be pissed off.  And he's not gonna do that.
kick ass show for what it was , a fesstival, and your right,I dsoubt that they would shot thier load so to speak and play things no one heard yet, prhaps like in NY at THIER own shows

ie: London, they will break out the other tunes,  CITR, TWAT, MMADDY, but till the record actually comes out and the US tour in fall, they are playing or should I say catering, to the casual GNR fans, only at hardcore shows like hammerstein, and other places will they do more new shit.

FYI, the XM audio feed sounds like its from the same mix as the web feed... (listening to LALD right now) - sorry bout that, but who knows, maybe it will improve.

One of the highlights of the setlist was Bumblefoot playing Don't Cry and the crowd singing so loudly was great.

Then after that Axl said were gonig to do somethink we never normally do and I was really excited, what is it Don't Cry, Civil War, what what... a drum solo ?Undecided hihi

Well, not one of the best gnr shows certainly. Axl sounded so much better in Madrid. He looked tired in a couple of song (scom was terrible...), started early in patience, the band fucked up pc......

I'll buy ANYTHING Axl does, but this show was sub par. And as happened earlier this week, way too many solos. Solos do not fire up the crowd, they bore them.

Some changes should be made for the following shows:

.- Less solos, a lot less solos indeed.
.- Play don't cry and ?maybe civil war, yesterdays (very appropiate hihi)
.- Fire Mr. Pittman. What the hell does he do?

It's just a constructive critic. My respect for Axl is enormous, but tonight wasn't the night.

The audio mix sucks...whoever is working the board should be shot.

i thought so too. loud than low i had to turn up and down my computer volume multiple times. the sound was fine when they did scom JUST LEAVE IT ALONE and get THE FUCK AWAY from the soundboard.

thoughts on the show:

the band was great. axl's voice was going near the end, but with the way he sings i totally forgive and understand that. other then that, like i said the band was awesome as usual.

unfortunitely the sound was horrible for most of the show, so it looks like no good quality bootlegs for us.

also i was a little disappointed with the setlist. they couldve sacrificed a few solos for ?a song or two, but im beinging to think that the solos are in there so that axl's voice can hold up longer in these 2 hour + shows.

cant wait until they come back to the states so i can catch them again (was at hammerstein 12 + 17).

problems aside, im still calling this my GNR.

the problem was that it contained too many solos ? too many breaks ?. ? This show could have been done in 1 hr 15 min if it wasn't for all the solos and breaks. ? ?I will give it another listen ?if they fix the mix for the replays but the show was lacking attitude . ?Axl's voice doesn't have the balls it once did. ? THe show had some good moments ?and Axl kicked butt on some songs but I don't know ?something is missing. Don't you agree ??

Busy on here tonight, I wonder why ?Grin

What a fucking show, I only tuned in during November Rain sadly. ?GN'R are back folks, they sound like they mean business this time. ?The solos I heard were great, I especially liked Finck's leading into Nightrain, he's really turned out to be a class act. ?Thal's solo just earlier was also awesome and like his Nightrain soloing, 100% quality.

Musicianship's better than ever, Axl's better than he has been for years, fuck I can't wait for Donnington!!!! ?yes
