"Just getting back from Boston. Took three winners of the Zildjian contest that we started last year when I was on tour. I took them on a tour of the factory.

"Zildjian makes my cymbals and I have been an endorser for 18 years now.

"After the tour, I helped [the winners] pick out eight free cymbals to take home. Each drummer was different in styles and needed their own sound. So it took time.

"I arrived at 8:30 a.m., which is pretty early for me. It was more like 5:30 a.m. L.A. time. I finally left at around 4:00 p.m. So it was a long day, but I think everyone was very happy.

"Had dinner on the water with the Zildjian family. Had lobster and Boston clam chowder. Amazing!!

"Anyway home for a minute. In the studio with VELVET REVOLVER all next week. Pre-production!!!!!"

Pre producion is a period where song ideas/demos/arrangements are initially hashed out.? The chosen material from this period will get taken into the studio to move forward with an album.

I really don't see VR's album being released before '07, so no, I doubt any possible fall CD release will have any bearing on VR's next album.

Hopefully, by Falcon's explanatio, CD is in post-production?  Anyway, not to turn this into a GN'R thread, I also don't think VR will release it until after 2007, and a tour will follow.  Unless they are fast workers! (Judging by Contraband, they are)

But didn't the band say that some of the songs have been recorded? Perhaps they meant demos.

I wonder if Weiland's album will delay the new VR.

Contrband was recorded in 5 days. I'm not saying this will too, but it shouldn't take 3 or 4 months. Besides all the best rock n roll albums are recorded in 2 or 3 weeks.

The guest producers et al they've been mentioning might not all be available during the same week. If they're still planning to go that route, scheduling different people to appear in the studio might make the recording time longer.
