I thought the duet was great.  I heard about them doing that at one of the previous concerts and I didn't know quite what to make of it but after hearing it firsthand it's got my approval.  I personally would rather hear something like that than an original improvization.  That's just me though.

If Aguilera isn't tasting good, how about the classical music that Robin played before SCOM, a piece called Finlandia by Jean Sibelius?

(Yeah, I'm still trying to get it acknowledged because I seem to be the only one who noticed or knew the song! And people are adding all the jamesbrowns and don'tcrys and christinaaguileras on their setlists for the solo spots, but I don't see no Sibelius there anywhere for Robin's first solo. Do I have to start another annoying topic to get some fame for a fellow Finn here? You know, we DID win the Eurovision song contest, too!)

Robin played Finlandia? So cool.

Now the next step for GNR is to also drink Finlandia...? Grin
Omfg I need to hear that!? Cheesy Damn now I just have to wish they play the whole Finlandia in Helsinki since its my fav song from classical music? Grin

acording to robin himself, he did play finlandia! How do i know, ask Graciela and Jarmo!  Wink

so look out for a real crowd pleaser in helsinki!!!

The Beautiful song is no different than the Godfather solo. Different strokes for different folks.

When I first heard that they had played that,I thought for sure I'd hate it. But turns out,it's not that bad really. Fortus makes it sound pretty good.

Axl sang Bad Time by Grand Funk Railroad, a pop song. Nobody complained by that time...

As far as Finck, his look is much better than the gothic freak look of 2002. He looks like a normal person now.

Except for those silly boots he likes to wear Grin

Man, he should just drop that Roll Eyes

Regarding "Beautifull", I just don't know what to think ... Man, an Aguilera song ...

If it wasn't by Aguilera, everyone would love it. They just don't want to admit it now because some whore is singing it..

Someone called that a "horse-rider look". I think that fits, and I dig it. Especially with his sunglasses on at the beginning of the show, he looked cool as fuck. And his strange moves add to that coolness.  Cool

Indeed, regarding the fact that Robin apparantly changes his outfit completely every months constantly over the last few years, I'm rather sad that this new style will also be gone soon.  no

I dont understand why they play that song either. Maybe its some sort of inside joke or something, or Axl just likes it. Who knows?

phone Mysteron?? ? ? ?hihi

yeah, I think the whole band looks more like a rock band than the circus of freaks look they had back in 2002....as for beautiful...I dig the song and Aguilera's voice

Who the hell cares how Robin looks? I don't care if he comes out with his ball bag hanging down, as long as he contributes to Gn'R. Back on topic, this isn't 1987 anymore. This band has earned the right to do whatever the hell they want, including playing "Beautiful"

.......the gothic freak look.......

Tommy has said it's all about not being pigeonholed, refering to GNR.

Finlandia              early20th? classical
I feel good           50s? funk?
Ziggy stardust     70s   glum
Don't cry              90s   rock
Beautiful              early 21th pop

If it wasn't by Aguilera, everyone would love it. They just don't want to admit it now because some whore is singing it..

I think that's about it.
like "This .........'s  song is simply a masterpiece." "No? '*********' wrote it? Actually, it's mediocre."

People's fixed ideas amaze me. Just look through this thread there're so many of them. Musts.

I'll be honest, when I first heard that Richard and Robin did this song at Hammerstien, I was thinking WTF? But after hearing it for myself, I think they did a great job with this song. Even if people don't like it, they have to appreciate the amount of feeling R & R put into it.

I think its a little more personal than that. I'm sure Axl didnt wake up and say,"Hey, I dont want us to be pigeonholed. Pick a solo from anyone you want so we are not pigeonholed". I think it goes a little deeper than that. Maybe Axl just likes the song. Maybe Axl had sex with her in the past and he is paying tribute to her. Also, someone mentioned Finck always liked her.

I understand what you mean about Stinson's comments, but I think he was referring to Chinese Democracy and the quality of the songs on the album, and the direction of the music.

why is it so damn difficult for you to just accept his comments without burying them with conspiracies and bullshit?
