bumblerocks- It's not polite to point out mistakes.
I'll start reading your posts for errors so that I can point them out to you.
On topic: I feel ignorant since I don't know of this Doherty dude.
I think it's great that Mr. Rose made the list at all. I mean, come on, he's been pretty reclusive until lately.

I can honestly say Ive never seen this person in my life:
I have no clue who that is from looking at him..
I wonder if there are people out there who see an axl rose pic and say the same??
Axl is definetly an icon, and there is some truth about his ways being known just like his music.. Mike tyson and michael jackson are knwonf ro being the best in their field but for being out there as well.. Not abad thing, well MJ is

i NEVER heard about that guy until i read in a newspaper that the "babyshambles" took the stage at a concert in berlin 5(!!!!!!) hours too late, because pete doherty wasn`t there....
it was written like: " fans had to be patient when scandal rocker pete doherty came up 5 hours late......."
can you imagine the article if axl would`ve showed up 5 hours late?
then, a friend of mine drove to a babyshambles concert in cologne on a thursday and the guy just didn`t show up.... again... it`s cool when pete doherty does that kind of stuff..... but what if axl did that??

Axl came number 13 in the list, and typical NME student cock-sucking fasion couldn't even pay him a complament,
"with his whisky soaked, sunset strip voice, he is as famous for his pre-madonna ways as well as his songs, but rock would have been a much duller place without him"
Cobain came number 1, with pete doherty second which says everything about the NME and the people who read it!
Jesus Christ, at least provide a link.
No link, you have to buy the mag, and i'm not lining their pocket!

Wow, what a strange readership NME must have.
I mean, where is Bono of U2? When he's not out saving the world and being seen with leading politicians, he's playing the biggest tours at the biggest venues all over the world.
And why Liam Gallagher? I don't think many people would even associate that name with Oasis outside of the UK.
But it is a UK rag so I guess that's partly why.
Doherty is kinda a pop culture icon though. He's in all the glossies and tabloids on a daily basis, so he does deserve to be in the list purely for that, because well, no one can name a song that he's written. Here in the UK, everyone knows who he is.
I wonder why Kurt Cobain is number 1 though. If he's up there, then what about Jim Morrison and Jimi Hendrix, who were far more influencial, famous, well known and well cooler. I guess it's because his death was relatively recent, and it's the last rock star to die tradjically that the world cared about.

most of them you named were in the list i just couldn't tell what number they were.
I dunno what it's like in other countries, but in the UK sometime we have an almost anti America attidude towards are rockstars, we like them home grown!
The reason why liam is seen as a icon is back in 1994 in the UK we hadn't really had a bad boy of rock for such a long time, and here comes someone fresh of the council estate who didn't give a fuck and wouldn't take no shit of anybody!

the info on pete doherty:
Was a member of The libertines (over-rated in my opinon)
Dated kate moss on and off
Started a new band babyshambles
Spends more time in court then in the studio
numerous visits to rehab but still can't get clean!
has a dedicated following who will not have a bad word said against him (mainly students)
Plus, he?s amazing song writer and also a published poet. And his poetry won him the opportunity to work with The British Council in Russia, aged just 16 (the poet was "Albion" from Babyshambles debut album Down In Albion).
One of the first Libertines interviews (NME). Different picture of Pete Doherty.

NME is by far the worst music magazine out there. "Cock Sucking Student Magazine" is a pretty accurate description. I suppose you could argue that the magazine should only focus on new music, bands and hype them up, since thats what the magazine is named after. But still, there is only so many times you can read about Pete Doherty and the fucking Libertines and Babyshambles. Dont get me wrong i like the Libertines, i think Pete Doherty is an overrated cock, but i respect his talent yada yada...... he is lyrically acomplished and an established poet, but the amount of attention NME give him is just ridiculous. If you go back and read past issues, every month there is some new band that is going to save Rock n Roll........... they never last........ thank god, in most cases!
