With the rumor upcoming GnR tour, I was wondering who each of you thinks should open up for GnR.

I am thinking Weezer. I am not the biggest weezer fan but they were honored to do it before and still like Axl. They have enough appeal to bring in extra fans. (something all good tours need). They have enough good singles and are a good enough to fill the arenas and it would be a great Rock Show.

Any other ideas?

Yea, Weezer would be a good idea. Can't really think of any more, maybe the Darkness?

yes Jet, I saw them at MTV VMA this year and they were the best. Oasis would be a fantastic choice too but I doubt the Gallagher's brothers would want to just open.

i think weezer is the best choice for reasons already stated. it would put axl in good favor with many, cause weezer is well liked and respected.

silvertide would be awesome.

GnR should have VR as a opening act every second gig, and the other night GnR should open for VR..  If we can't make them reunite, it would be fucking awsome to have them on the same stages the same time !!!     peace

1. Jet (the best and only part of the 2004 VMA worth watching-IMO) ok
2. Buckethead and Giant Robot (yeah, it's a joke) hihi
3. Tommy Stinson (backed by The Figgs) (yeah, I'm dreaming) Grin

The Darkness are nothing but a lame played-out parody of the kind of music GN'R, Aerosmith, Bon Jovi and most of all Queen used to make. They absolutely suck, and if Axl got them as support I'd seriously begin to question his judgement and sanity.

How about no support and a 2 & 1/2 hour Guns set? Yeah, I'm dreaming too.

The Distillers?

My dream would be a joint tour with Alice Cooper. For an encore they could do 'The Garden' and 'Under My Wheels' together. :sigh:

Having seen The Darkness live I would say they were a bad choice since they might perform GNR off the stage. Wink

« Reply #14 on: September 16, 2004, 10:38:18 AM »

I think that Ash would be a good opening act, but I think they'd pick a US act like Weezer again as others have mentioned. Silvertide would rock as well, but they supported VR and so might be kinda against the 'newGNR' as Sum 41 were when they refused to open in 2002.

In a perfect world, I'd like my friends' band  Without Grace (www.withoutgrace.com) to open for them!! They just recently got signed and have a single coming out here in the UK in a few weeks. Check out the site and downloads and stuff and let me know what you think!!

I would say an up and coming rock band, but the rock scene is horrible right now.  Angry Hell, the only band I might pay to listen to is Shinedown. So, my vote goes for Weezer!

Weezer's kinda on the same schedule as GnR right now for a release date/tour thing... and I love the Weez.
I think that'd be a GREAT tour. And the Weez never cancel!

Skinny Puppy.

Actually, BT should be the opener. He uses Richard Fortus, Tommy Stinson and Brain already.
