It happened in my lifetime!!!

« on: May 23, 2006, 02:19:50 PM »

I was watching all my old vids of the band from the Ritz to Argentina 93 and I know Axl sounds 1000x better than 02 and much closer to vintage but I think I found the missing link

Axl's too damn happy now.  He is always smiling and making jokes.  Where's bi-polar Axl?   rofl  The growl and force behind his voice was so angry, I think that is what drove him in the 90s.

Sounds stupid but if you think about it, it makes sense

i agree 1,000%.

not that i'm complaining or think this is a big issue or anything. my gnr high is so good right now.

but i totally miss the "craziness" vibe. he used to joke alot back in the day, but he seemed crazy at the same time. like at any second he was gonna lose it (and he frequently did). and he had it in 2002 as well.

he's gotta be on meds. things have just been a little too normal the last two weeks.

I like Axl happy.

He talks to us.  He goes on tour.  MAYBE we'll even get an album out of him.

"Angry" Axl?

Not so much.

I agree with this 100%. While I understand the point being made by the thread, I am happy that Axl is so happy. The GNR vibe hasn't been better than it is right now in 13 years. Plus, it's not like Axl isn't out there scrapping, just ask Tommy Hilfiger! Or refer to the press release regarding Slash's visit. I am sure we will still get the occasional rant. Happy Axl rocks.

Happy Axl is going to release it.

He seemed to be happy alot in 80's and the 90's and I liked that style much more than the angry Axl.. Be happy Axl! Don't listen to the fans who wants you mad and angry, it is much funnier to be happy Cheesy

remember, 'there was a time' when ANGRY axl toured, released albums, and communicated with his fans quite frequently.

No. We had that Axl already. This Axl seems enthused as hell about playing live shows, seems tight with this band, and all of this will eventually lead to the desired goal : ?The Release of Chinese Democracy

I can't get over how much fun they looked like they were having at that Acoustic gig *

I have to vote for Happy Axl.  I always disliked his 2002 rants.  Happy Axl shows up, his voice is great and the sky is the limit for Happy Axl!!!!

Now I'm just waiting for Axl to get on stage and sing kumbaya..... hihi I agree that this stable, easy-going, happy, merry Axl gives way better shows than the 'in your face' angry Axl, although I would have paid good money to see him kick the shit out of Tommy H  hihi

There was never an "Angry Axl", just sometimes a pissed-off-white-trash Axl, and the depressed Axl, that gave us songs like estranged.

Anger defines Grunge and the last Metallica album ?hihi
