I think the most fair thing to say would be:

Robin Finck; rhythm & lead
Richard Fortus; rhythm & lead
Ron Thal; rhythm & lead

The border of who plays what has moved since old RnR days...

He does play some of the leads that buckethead did, but he also does rhythm on a lot of songs...

Most of the new songs will have two leads anyways so its not really going to matter.

In the last concerts, its seems to me that Robins is taking your space more than others, Something like SLASH.. sure not exactally. He bettered so much last concerts, the old songs look like how the old times. Getting more personality...

What do u think?

WHAT?! You mean some shredders can play rhythm parts?! I thought (according to Bucketheads example) that they all just did a robot dance when they weren't shredding.

Here's how I see it:

Robin Finck - Lead Guitar
Richard Fortus - Rhythm Guitar
Bumblefoot - Stunt Guitar

Stunt Guitar?  hihi rofl

It is nice to see that each gets a chance to shine since all can play lead very well.

Bumblefoot is more the stage attraction ( or will be groomed to be) on lead, but Finck at this point has that role ( slaying audiences with his playing, stage diving, etc)

yeah i think they are getting more personality. They're not as clinical as in 02. Sounding good, when i listened to my michelle from hammerstein i was amazed at how much energy was in the song, it sounded great!! on all my boots of 02 i find the performance of that song pretty boring.

Frank Zappa used to intro Steve Vai as his stunt guitarist. Good role for BBF.

Well, Bumblefoot definitely played A LOT more rythm than Bucket ever did. He played in every song. He was all over the place. He even played accoustic on 'The Blues', which Bucket didn't add a thing to that song...

I kept track of the solo assignment on sunday night... and it was basically the same every night. Not counting non-song solo's... and considering there is multiple solo in songs (i.e sweet child has 3), and not counting song riffs (i.e Sweet child INtro) as solos the breakdown was as follows

Robin 23
Ron 13
Richard 9

So i'd say robin is the lead guitar player

Good point - but Ron's been in the band for a week.  Give him time.  He's a cool motherfucker.  I had a chance to meet him after a show - he's got a personality that'll rock the GNR boat if he's utilized.
