and he did say on Trunk that he prefers Priest better than Maiden. He only likes Maiden's first album (Bruce Dickinson wasn't even in the band back then).

But that doesn't mean he hates them.
Bruce Dickinson wrote a song about Axl called "Tattooed Millionaire", and even named the album that. I doubt Axl has forgotten that. ok

Holy shit? Shocked
I love that song and never knew it was about Axl.

EDIT: I was just having a look at the lyrics again and... haha yeah, it does fit Axl pretty well.
Honestly, how come I never knew my favourite singer wrote a song about Axl... lol!

Nothing beats Metallica's song about Axl.

Fortune, fame
Mirror vain
Gone insane
But the memory remains

Heavy rings on fingers wave
Another star denies the grave
See the nowhere crowd
Cry the nowhere cheers of honor

Like twisted vines that grow
Hide and swallow mansions whole
In light of an already
Faded prima donna

repeat chorus

Heavy rings hold cigarettes
Up to lips that time forgets
While the Hollywood sun sets
Behind your back

I don't know how Dickinson could top that.

Man, I can't even imagine what kind of video Axl would make nowadays. He should go with his original SCOM video concept. Dead babies and heroin Cool

Mister ID, I brought that up in a thread along time ago here, but people thought I was crazy. But ever since that song came out, I have always thought he was talking about Axl.

I remember bringing that up on the old CD.com site about 6 or 7 years ago.  Not that I'm bragging or anything.

Yeah, either Hetfield or Lars confirmed it years ago. I remember when the video came out the Vj's were talking about it.

in a very old interview  he dismissed them as been to 'political' and being nothing like gnr

By writing this:

Tattooed boys with expensive toys.
Living in a bubble of sin.
Money can buy you most of anything.
Fix your nose or the mess your in.
Front page news you can share your views.
With a population that wants to be like you.
Out on the strip. Out on the tiles.
Same old greed behind the PR smiles.

You and all your entourage.
To me your all the same.
You and all your entourage.
Playing foolish games.

CHORUS:
I don't want your big city shining.
I don't want your silver lining.
I don't wanna be a tattooed millionaire.

He's got a wife, she ain't no brain child.
Ex mud queen of Miami.
In his stretch Cadillac, he keeps her in the back.
With his CD player and his bottle of Jack.
LA dude. LA Attitude.
Laid back, selfish and getting fat.
Body guards, Porn Stars, Gold credit cards.
Using each other. Running for cover.

Nice to see all the people writing lyrics about Axl, but then will be kissing his ass later in the year. Wasnt there something about him meeting Lars a while back? Not too long ago.

After having watched Some Kind of Monster, I don't think Metallica is in any position to criticize any fellow "rockstars". Not just Axl. But they always were a bit righteous, weren't they?

Speaking of music videos, man, I can't wait to actually turn on MTV and hear Guns N' Roses on there. That's gonna be surreal. I have to check what channel MTV's on, can't remember (never watch it anymore)...

I'm not so sure about that. Considering how they've been on top of the Hammerstein gigs, Hilfiger Fight etc. and their coverage of the 2002 tour as well as RIR3, I think there's definitely a big interest in a new GN'R video on MTV's part. Hell, they even let them close the VMA's back in 2002!

To be honest, I wouldn't be worried about criticism from the minds that came up with Alexander the Great...
