I can't even remember the last time MTV did an Unplugged worth anything.  GnR playing an acoustic set, which formerly seemed like a pipedream, sort of opens the door for this.  And the setlist they played last night, with another 4 or 5 songs sprinkled in, would be an amazing Unplugged album.  Doesn't hurt to hope  smoking

who cares about MTV, they should just film their own little acoustic set and throw it on a bonus dvd with the album or include it with the other filmed footage for a new GNR dvd!!

Not to mention an Unplugged album and concert aired on MTV would be a great way to introduce the new band to the general public

I don't really care if this band did an MTV unplugged or not.? It should have been done during the Illusion era with the old band. The old band had more chemistry and would have pulled it off great.? This lineup needs to grow as a band and release a couple albums before they even think of doing an MTV unplugged.? ?The impromptu? accoustic session at Dawson's birthday party was a good start.? That's how you start becoming a real band.? ?

All the Skin N Bones tour of 1993 had a acoustic set.

I agree, we don't need a MTV unplugged, if they release what they did the other night as a bonus on a new DVD ro somethink then that would be good enough.

While MTV is terribly unfashionable nowadays, an upside to any such gig being an MTV Unplugged performance would obviously be that it would be professionally filmed and shown on TV.

Yeah, MTV will air a Gn'R unplugged, right after a "My Sweet 16 Marathon," an all new episode of "Yo Momma," and the season finale of "The Real World."   Roll Eyes

MTV is a joke.

No they dont. I dont watch MTV, but I think the last Unplugged was Alicia Keys a few years ago. A more viable option would be VH1 Storytellers. beer

MTV is now about shows - not music anymore.

I don't know how it works in the US, but MTV2 and VH2 (and VH1) show videos in the UK pretty much throughout the day. The live shows tend to always be shown on those subsidiary channels now as well.

Absolutely nothing. rofl The guy should have done a VH1 Storytellers thread. It is still a relevant show, and actually even better than Unplugged. The artists performing there talk about the creation of each song. I have always loved this show. The tom Petty Storytellers was incredible. Found out Free Falling is pretty much a meaningless song. He was just playing his guitar, and came up with those chessy lyrics on the spot. It was funny how he described it. Definitely watch it if they ever replay it. Great Petty performance. Another great Storytellers is Culture Club. Boy George kicked ass at that show, and the 3 new songs they played there were amazing.
