what makes The Beatles and Led Zeppelin be the 2 integral bands to 20th century music and beyond is that their whole body of work is built almost entirely on master piece songs.

No way.
Both the Beatles and Led Zeppelin made plenty of silly songs and mediocre songs. Both bands had masterpieces, but most of their songs either needed improvement or needed to be aborted. Most masterpiece type bands are those that put out an album or two and then break up. Bands that stay around for long enough will experiment and eventually make bad songs.
That said, the closest I could find for a "masterpiece" band is Symphony X. They constantly put forward amazing musicianship, original songs, and interesting lyrical themes. None of their albums is bad, and most of their songs could be considered masterpieces, at least technically. Death comes close to being a masterpice band, but the mediocre Individual Thought Patterns album takes them down.

By the way, since you're such a Symphony X fan, what do you think of Nevermore? I find they have a similar sound and feel to them as some Sym X songs - sort of like a ballsier version of Symphony X

Nevermore=Neverchug. Chug chug chug. Their guitars are downtuned stupidly low and they rely heavily on groove instead of memorable riffs. The production only amplifies this. They are simply too
modern
. Symphony X isn't a stranger to shiny production, but they can back it up and they don't overdo it. I listen to a lot of classic thrash, so I always end up comparing Nevermore to it, unfavorably. Symphony X, however, has good songwriting skills, so they often surpass their shred predecessors, like Cacophony. They don't go too overboard on the solos, etc.

As much as I like you D, and Bon Jovi ...
1 album like Stadium Arcadium can't have that many masterpieces. The RHCP alone don't have that many. You guys are really blowing SA out of proportion.
