What time are you guys planning on lining up?

On the subject of openers I'm kind of conflicted.  I don't want to be standing around for a long time watching nothing, but even with an opener chances are that'll happen anyway.  I don't want to stand through shitty openers, especially if there's people who decide they're going to mosh to the shitty openers.  And if there are openers I'll still be freaking out the whole time they're on thinking about whether Axl is gonna show.  I'd rather just wait for GNR to go on.

The first time I ever saw Velvet Revolver as Roseland was I believe also their first show in NYC...they had an opener...some crap band called the living things. The band literally got boo-ed the entire time and the lead singer just stopped singing and started calling people out in the audience and cursing at them, trying to fight. While it's not what I hope for the GNR shows...hell man, it was mad funny  rofl

I cant see getting there at 10-11am.  That is just ridiculous.  Is there any confirmation of opners?  Or a time they go on?  Shouldn't gnr be on around 8pm?  birk

You're joking, right?  You really think that a band NOTORIOUS for going on hours late is going to start playing at 8pm, which is the time the doors open...?  I won't be holding my breath for that.    peace

I got the CD from my contact at Sony, cuz I write at my college newspaper doing entertainment review (I'm special  yes) and I gotta say, I wasn't impressed. They're sort of one of those post BrianJonesTown bands who think themselves more creative than they are. But hey, everyone has their bands.

Looks like i might be heading to the shows solo, as the person who was supposed to go just backed out. Oh well. I plan on taking the train from Harrisburg, PA to Penn Station on Sunday. I have reservations at the Pennsylvania Hotel. Anyone know how far that is from the Hammerstein? BTW, I will be at the shows on the 14th and 15th and plan on being at the pre-parties both days.

I can't see why people would line up at 5 or 6.... I mean there is only 2500, its not going to be like trying to get to the front row in an arena. Axl probably won't hit the stage until like 10:00-10:30 anyway... theres no way i'm standing around for 4 hours. the place is small enough you'll be able to see it all!

All right, this California girl finally got a hotel!  It's the Herald Square Hotel not far from the Hammerstein.  I got a room with private bath for $99 per night.  All the reviews are good so I hope it really is decent.  I've been working on this for hours!  Some of the reviews talk about bedbugs and mice.  And cockroaches too.  I guess it's a problem in a lot of NY hotels.

That hotel is about a 5 minute walk from the hammerstein, and right across the street from penn station

Damnit never in my life will I ever be driven to feel the need to wait outside to get inside a concert for 12+ hours.? It's something I want to experience once in my life and I fully intend to do it (pending I can get my ass out of bed at 6am).? I feel my generation has been robbed of such an experience due to the ability to buy tickets online and the lack of performers who are really worth waiting 12+ hours outside.? If anyone wants to get a little rotation started let me know because I also want to make an appearence at the pre-party.? Damnit, this is my first GNR show and could very well be my last (although I hope not) so I'm making it one fucking hell of an experience I'll never forget!

I sure hope I got a good deal!  The first hotel I booked sounded fine, but then I found a website with reviews.  The reviews were awful, talking about bugs and mice.  I cancelled that reservation and found the Herald Square.  I've read all the reviews for the Herald Square...no bugs, no mice.

You really scored a good deal!  I've literally been trying for days to find a decent place to stay that doesn't cost $300 per night.

Alright, 2 things: (1) ?I have 2 Mezz tix for the Monday May 15 show that I have arranged to trade for 2 Floors. However, I am not sure now if my brother will be able to go - I should know in the next day or two. If he can't, I will need to sell 1 of those Floor tickets as I will be heading to NYC by myself. Face value of course, which is right around $75 US including all ticketmaster charges. Send me a PM if you would like to purchase 1 ticket from me. Again, May 15 - 1 floor.

(2) Is there a baseball fan heading to NY solo (or even a couple of people) who would like to go to the Yankees / Rangers game on Tuesday, May 16? I have found a site offering very reasonable tix, so pm me if you want to go and I will order the tickets. Only if you're 100% sure you'll go. Gotta make sure I see Yankee Stadium cause it will probably be replaced in a couple of years once Steinbrenner gets a new stadium built.

Re: Accomodations - If you can handle a dorm room (8 beds per room, just like a hostel), you might want to check out the Chelsea Star Hotel: $29.99 per night ... http://starhotelny.com/index.php
