Yeah, she is checking on some places that are casual dress bars, with access to outside so people can smoke..in New York it is illegal to smoke in any club. peace

is anyone going to visit cbgbs while in nyc?

It could be your last chance.

They close (at least, afaik) forever in Oct of '06.

i would Love to go to cbgb's while there,i don't know if my friend would like it but maybe some some of us can get together and  make a night of it on one of the nights there is no gnr? as long as it's not some spoken word artist that throws nasty stuff while boring you out of your mind or triggering a migraine hihi

Not sure what dates people are looking to go, but the only music act advertised right now on an "off GnR night" looks to be on the 13th:

I'm sure they'll have something up for the 16th, as well, but it'll be smaller bands so the schedule's not up yet.

I always use to just go to cbgbs and see what was there.. I never planned anything around which bands were there.. I just said see 4-5 bands drink and see what rock sluts are there..I use to bounce between that one and the other place next door

Does anyone know for sure whether or not The Hammerstein is governed by a curfew law? Just curious as to how late these shows may start. What's everyone's concensus?

I'm going to say no.  I've been at events there that have lasted there 'til 2AM.

I'm going to say no.? I've been at events there that have lasted there 'til 2AM.?

Concerts?

Or ECW/ROH shows?

Or "other" events?

I'm not sure either, to be clear.? Every show I've been to there has been wrapped up by 12:30-ish, but I'm not sure that's because of any curfew.? I think it's just because the artists go on stage "on time". Smiley

I know most LARGE venues in NYC (like MSG) do have a concert curfew and I think it's 12:30 AM.? But I'm not sure about the smaller venues like the Hammerstein. They may not...

I can't find anything definitive.? Let me see what I can dig up...

Edit: I shot an email off to MCS studios asking them for more info.  I'll post back if I hear anything.

Alright, 2 things: (1)  I have 2 Mezz tix for the Monday May 15 show that I have arranged to trade for 2 Floors. However, I am not sure now if my brother will be able to go - I should know in the next day or two. If he can't, I will need to sell 1 of those Floor tickets as I will be heading to NYC by myself. Face value of course, which is right around $75 US including all ticketmaster charges. Send me a PM if you would like to purchase 1 ticket from me. Again, May 15 - 1 floor.

(2) Is there a baseball fan heading to NY solo (or even a couple of people) who would like to go to the Yankees / Rangers game on Tuesday, May 16? I have found a site offering very reasonable tix, so pm me if you want to go and I will order the tickets. Only if you're 100% sure you'll go. Gotta make sure I see Yankee Stadium cause it will probably be replaced in a couple of years once Steinbrenner gets a new stadium built.

Re: Accomodations - If you can handle a dorm room (8 beds per room, just like a hostel), you might want to check out the Chelsea Star Hotel: $29.99 per night ... http://starhotelny.com/index.php

thats where I'm staying. If your staying there lets bunk up and make sure no fuckers steal our gnr tee-shirts lol.
