Oh, please, stop with this bullshit dead horse talkin' about a reunion and complaining about the new band. Move on, it's Guns N' Roses now, deal with it. You may not like it, you may not agree, but it's what it is.

I thought this thread was about yesterday's show, I really don't want to read this shitty talk AGAIN.

ON TOPIC, I think this show was amazing. How was Axl's voice?

I have jazjme's audio here... I'm working on it, but it's pretty bad quality again. It's for hardcore fans, of course... I'll try to clean it up a bit.

I hate virgin concert go-ers....I was at the 17th show...and I was surronded by 15-17 years olds who had no clue..we where standing there and I told one of them, "Oh I just so Dizzy, the show musy be starting soon." and this kid says  "Dizzy? He's still in the band?"

Then it starts getting a tad crazy people pushing, nothing violent just pushing usual concert shit..and I push in to this one fat chick and she turns around and pushes me like it was my fault that I hit her?  She stood there the whole night with her hands folded and at one point I heard here say to the dude she was with .."Slash lost a lot of weight."  They left after Nighttrain.......

I really think there should be a test for ticket holders, a big GNR test and the ones who pass get front row and the rest of the "I'm here to hear the hits"  can sit in the fucking balcony.....

We will see.

What if at the shows to come people chant "We want Izzy"

See what Im sayin?

Axl needs to be distancing himself from the past i.e. not playing every fuckin song off AFD, not having any old members..

Imagine if Slash had played on a few songs?

See what Im saying?

Izzy was maybe the most important old guns member and he just totally overshadowed the new band as if they dont already have enough problems walkin in those giant shoes and being morphed in the old guys' shadows.

if slash had played a song the place would had exploded.... I've been to plenty of these new shows, he is talked about plenty

voodoo axl's voice was amazing, I loved hohd the crowd was singing loud.. You do one I do one thing..

I cant see it going anywhere..at least i hope it doesnt not until CD is out and the current lineup is done with what they set out to do.? Theyve worked to hard to not have their chance to shine....they deserve that after sticikin by Axl all this time.? Thats more than most of the old members can say.?

I completely, totally agree.

you wanted them to wait around for 13 years?

part of the reason people still think about the old band is because they play so much old material, it's loaded with old material that people are use to seeing the other guys play..  You have that name up there and play all those songs that's what happens.. Obviously everyone supports at least axl or they wouldn't have went..  Only a bunch of trained seals would just switch their interests because the band has different people and the same name... You wouldn't be normal if you were an older fan who watched the old lineup all your life to feel bad or emotional when you saw all new faces playing the songs you loved by others..

Eevryone went and had fun that is the main point.. Axl sounded great..

This is a great post and also pretty sad. Seeing that the shows are now full of geeky teens who know nothing about the history, integrity or importance of Guns makes me kinda reluctant to go see Axl and his cohorts even though he and his original bandmates affected and changed my life in such a positive way back in the day! I guess those that were around in the early days can live contentedly in the knowledge that we experienced the REAL DEAL first hand. So let the kids have the new G'n'R and when the reunion happens, which it surely will now IZZY has set the wheels in motion, we can all high five each other again while Slash, Izzy n Axl tear it up one more time...? Welcome to the Jungle motherfuckers....? ok ok?

the worst thing i heard last night was before the show they played green day and some kid goes - "this is guns n roses right?" i was second person from the stage and couldnt believe someone would get thier that early and get that close and think green day was guns. what is that shit? but there were a lot of die hards by me. amazing show. for the person that asked if axl really said - "see, i told you this was guns n roses." yeah he really did say that or something like that when they stopped playing nightrain cause brain fucked up. i really do wonder why izzy left early and didnt say bye to anybody... he signed my friends guitar after the show though. on a side note, i saw axl go into a club and he brought the light saber (the one he had on stage monday) with him into the club. after he was there for 5 minutes, he left the club to go outside for 10 minutes because he said he was "tired of people mobbing him." he wouldnt really talk or sign autographs but i dont blame him. i guess there arent too many pictures because security was pretty tight last night. i was second from the stage and they were looking out for camera phones and cameras. one guy even tried to take somebodys phone.

I was astounded by the people who just stood around and were only excited when one of the biggest hits came on.  Of course there were plenty of die hards there too, but what the hell's wrong with some of these people?  You come to a concert to sing along with NR, SCOM and WTTJ and stand around for the rest of the time?  It's not like GnR has a gigantic catalogue

D - I see where you are coming from, however I look at it in a different way.

Izzy is probably the most respected former member by fans and maybe even band mates. I think Izzy appearing on stage with the current version of Guns N' Roses is an amazing endorsment to the band and also the fans alike. It's like saying "guys this IS GUNS N' ROSES now and that's cool"! I think it's a great compliment to Axl and the current members that he endorses, supports and obviously loves what they are doing!

At least You'd agree that Izzy doesn't show less approval for this Guns n roses, the band once he was in and left, than for VR or AA in which he's never been a part, anymore.

I have no idea about Izzy's level of approval for any of the above, I could care less.

I do however enjoy (without overanalyzing) him occasionally playing a few tunes with a former bandmate(s), whomever that may be...

exactly

It would be nice to think this could be a catalyst of sorts to get the real Guns back together tho

Interesting point of view.  Talking about a reunion is very premature. Izzy showing up was great but I think that's as far as it goes.

I noticed that after Nightrain, he stayed on stage giving the impression that he wanted to play more but then then got into a new song (IRS or CD) and a tech guy escorted him backstage.

As far as a reunion with Slash and co, it would take a few things to happen such as VR folding up (which could happen) and new GNR members not being able to stand Axl's attitude on tour (that too could happen;he seems very happy on stage being on tour for months and months is a different story).

You missed D's point entirely. This is "new" GNR. New members, and supposedly a whole bunch of new songs in the vaults. If its so new and fresh, and is going to set the world on fire, why does everything this band does revolve around something done in the 80's? There will be no asetting the world on fire with something that set the world on fire 19 years ago. Its stale. Been done before. It was done better when AFD was relevant, and to top it off, this band already tried the AFD tribute thing, and it didn't work. Now they are doing a second attempt at it.

I thought new GNR was a new beginning? All the new GNR fans that hate the old band tell us to "move forward", stop "living in the past". Instead of telling me and some other forum members that, you need to tell that to the 2006 version of Guns n Roses.

This band will not be relevant until it is willing to get its own identity, and showcase its own material. Until they are willing to do that, this is the AFD tour. If you deny that, go look at the NY setlists.

GNR fans are accepting this new band, and giving them a chance. Take advantage of that. But if they refuse to do so, and the GNR universe has to keep on revolving around AFD, then he should just fire these guys and get the guys who were really a part of AFD. I dont want that. Hell, I dont give a fuck about a reunion(at least now anyways). I would love to see these guys succeed and get rewarded for the loyalty they had to not only Axl but to CD as well. But with CD now being mentioned for a very vague fall(which could turn into a vague spring mention in an instant), we will have to keep on having the AFD cash cow dominate GNR for only God knows how long.

You pretty much described my quandry with this band right there - More than anything, I'd love to see GNR fans move on from the old lineup and AFD -  But how the hell can they do that when the New GNR keeps playing setlists that are 80% old GNR material? I love the new band, and it's no secret that I enjoy them more than the old guys... But the current situation is more than ridiculous.

I have no doubt that New GNR has some spectacular stuff just waiting in the wings, but hiding it all from the world does nothing to help their cause.

That said, I'm hoping for some big surprises regarding new material at Rio - Maybe then, this band that shows so much promise will finally get their due and come out of the shadow of AFD.
