Hehe... my sister and I were interviewed as well. It would be so funny if our little segment were to make it to the dvd. A somewhat embarassing interview, but funny as well

I thought it was common knowledge that they were filming for a DVD. What's the big deal? That news broke on Sunday, am I missing something?

whats this all about then?
Alrite people big update here. Very reliable source at the gig
04:33
[04:26] darknemusfl: Alright.. basically, they are filming for DVDs... not a DVD.. DVDs.
[04:27] darknemusfl: A documentary DVD and a performance DVD
[04:27] darknemusfl: filming entirely in Hi-Def
[04:27] darknemusfl: Monday night the one camera guy (Johnathan) was filming band interviews
[04:27] darknemusfl: which is why he wasn't out working the line.
[04:27] darknemusfl: In addition.. the documentary disc is supposed to be all about the journey to this point... and includes footage of recording sessions, supposedly.
[04:28] darknemusfl: The camera guys apparently are really good friends with Finck / Fortus.. which is how they got involved in the project
[04:29] darknemusfl: (If you've seen them, you'll notice they're pretty young guys)
[04:31] darknemusfl: I'm telling you, the key was us walking in 15 mins before everyone else Sunday
[04:31] darknemusfl: The one guy said same day / date as CD.
[04:31] darknemusfl: but the other one figured a bit after the album comes out.
[04:31] darknemusfl: They had nothing solid on that though
[04:32] darknemusfl: but the one guy thought that they wouldn't have post-production on the DVDs done by then

Yeah they told a few people in line that's what they were doing. Don't know what the secrecy is all about?

A team of film-makers apparently connected to guitarists Robin Finck and Richard Fortus have been filming a documentary and concert DVD of Guns N' Roses to roughly coincide with the long-awaited release of the fabled Chinese Democracy.
A source reveals that work has commenced on a documentary which will plot the journey to the end of Chinese Democracy, hopefully answering a few questions along the way. Also in production is a concert DVD, which will probably be a composite of three of the band's four performances in the intimate Hammerstein Ballroom, New York this past week.
Appearing on the Eddie Trunk radio show a fortnight ago as a guest of singer Sebastian Bach (who joined the band for a performance of the classic 'My Michelle' last week), Rose hinted at an autumn release date for the album as well as a promotional tour of North America. The band is about the embark on a two-month European festival tour, beginning in Spain at the end of this month.
thanks to Rain for the find.

I was with dark on Sunday. When we showed up at the venue from Mustang Harry's we met a few people outside of the venue (who happened to be wheelchair bound), due to issues they ran into at the Friday show we worked out with Security to let them in early enough to get situated before the rush to the stage started. As dark talked with security I saw the cameras, so I asked what they were filming for. He said a DVD, then made a joke about not seeing it anytime soon (this is GnR afterall). Just before he finished dark signaled me and security moved the baricade and let us right in. I think this sort of caught the cameraman by surprise..... We then went up to our seats in Mezz1 (right next to the VIP section) and got comfortable. We noticed the cameraman taking interviews as the crowd flowed in.
He then came up to the Mezz to get a view from the VIP section (where he then noticed us). He called me over and started to give me a more indepth story behind what he was filming....... durring that process he asked for some contact info to set up a possible interview after the show. He was under the impression that we had inside contacts.
We were looking to hold back as much of the story as possible untill certain things were confirmed. I know how some people here like to jump on unconfirmed stories, so why release it without some sort of backup..

I can vouch for some of those conversations. ?I was with dark on Monday when he talked to one of the camera guys (who's name escapes me atm, but dark may remember).
He had a Hi-Def camera, too and did a bunch of filming.
In fact, he did some filming of a certain poster here at HTGTH....who I won't "out". ?But he knows who he is.
Oh, and for the record....when someone is nice enough to pass along info, in confidence, that he'd like to keep quiet for just a BIT longer to get confirmation on (and not create a possible shit storm), it might be best to honor his request. It certainly will make it more likely he'll talk to you in the future, if you're into that sort of thing. It's not like dark was asking everyone or anyone to keep their yap shut for very long....a few hours or a day or so at the most. Jeesh.....

Monday night is when I found out it was actually two DVDs.. the documentary one & the performance one. Again, like C0ma said.. no one truly knows when / if these would come out.. regardless of what the camera people may say.

Yup, that was him.
In addition, when we were talking about this on Monday, we were discussing how the Vegas shows, way back when, were filmed for DVD,too. My supposition is that this footage/DVD will replace that DVD, if you get what I'm saying..

Yeah, I think there's a possibility of a video being shot at the same time, as well. But again, until we actually see a release of some sort, who the hell knows. I didn't directly ask about a video being shot, though - I was more interested in their discussion of the DVDs being worked on.
I found out, for instance, that Monday night one of the camera guys was off shooting interviews with the band backstage.. (before the show).. so that ties more into the documentary DVD as opposed to the live performance one. Again, just interesting tidbits, is all.

One more quick point. Us getting in early was pretty much dumb luck. A forum member here (who I won't out unless he / she wants me to) who happens to be disabled ran into some problems Friday. Therefore I took the initiative to speak directly with security about giving him / her a few minutes head start this time around so that they didn't get zerged for position. C0ma and I were allowed in basically as escorts. It worked out well for us, yes - but to be honest, I was happier that this person got taken care of. That was my primary concern.. not seeing a friend get fucked over.
In addition, we got this person down to our row in Mezz 1 (basically walked them down once out of their wheelchair.. slow and steady. but we got them down there). At that point, I just about tossed some idiot off of Mezz 1 who - KNOWING THE PERSON WAS DISABLED - insisted on blocking their view. Needless to say, I was a somewhat.. irked darknemus. It could have ended very ugly for that person.. oh well.

On that note......... I'm not sure if you are a board member or not, but I wanted to thank the woman from Poland that was sitting next to us for jumping up to tell this asshole to get the Hell out of the way. I was so into the show that I didn't realize he began blocking our friends view (who was to polite to complain) until you said something.
