Metallica respects the hell out of GN'R's music and considered them a worthy adversary.

You oviously havn't heard James hetfield's Axl pisstake rant  hihi

the rest of gnr, not axl......      and what did he say?

And there is the mickey taking in 'Some Kind Of Monster', with James putting a bowl on his head and screeching 'Welcome To The Jungle', ripping Axl off from the video.

Oh my god this thread is still going on. I mean the rumour. It must be true.

They wouldn't play on the same night. It's a festival. Not a one-day thing...

I understand Dockland is not a big fes. Like warose I thought they might have 3~4stages indoor and out and the same number of headliners per night like some festivals. Tongue

Download has three stages over three days.

The main stage is where all the 'big boys' play.

The next stage is where a lot of up and coming bands play, with a few 'big' names headlining. Last year Motorhead played on this stage.

The smallest stage is where even less well known bands play, such as Crucified Barbara.

If Metallica and GN'R WERE to appear at Download it would be on different days. And with Metallica playing on the Saturday, the obvious day for Guns to play would be Sunday.

Personally, I feel we are more likely to get AC/DC headlining the Sunday at the mo. peace

Reading about how much you want a reunion, Axl's shorts, how Buckethead never fit in GN'R and how "inside sources" are no inside sources in multiple threads in the GN'R section isn't exactly fun.

Reading your posts isn't exactly fun either.

You must probably use another nickname when you want to be funny.

It's not about being funny, it's about staying on topic. Something you and some others seem to have difficulties with.  Roll Eyes

So, if you feel like discussing how funny my posts are, you're free to leave feedback about it in the right section and in the right thread. Can you manage that?

Jarmo offers the world a place for GN'R fans to come and communicate. He offers no nonsense news and information on GN'R. And he does this with no agenda and it takes time out of his day to ensure this is all done in a fair and respectful manner.

Based on the quotes I've read through the years (although admittedly many of them are from Lars who would probably replace James with Axl in a nano second), I am almost certain that Metallica (my second favorite band) respected (if begrudgingly) Guns N' Roses' MUSIC and the rest of the original/UYI line-up. James making fun of Axl and bashing him for Montreal and all his rock star trappings is a different matter alltogether- not related to music. Plus, I wouldn't be surpised at all to find out that at the time of the Guns-Metallica tour in '92 the rest of GN'R was closer with Metallica than they were with Axl. Axl was never around, had his own private dressing room, was into Stephanie Seymour and previous lives and where the closest nuclear power plant was to the venue, etc... meanwhile the Metallica guys were there hanging out backstage having a good time with whoever wanted to party... sounds like something Slash, Duff and Matt would have been a part of...

But again... just speculating! nervous

PS Jarmo is awesome. A true friend to Guns N' Roses fans everywhere. It would be cool someday if Axl acknowledged Jarmo at a concert or something... he's earned it. ok

Great post, Mysteron. If people dont believe what you just said, they should go to some of the various GNR forums and take a look. Most of them are just the admin. and mods on a major power trip. A few months ago, I went to one of the newer GNR forums to see what it was like. I signed up there under my same name here, and I made 11 posts the night I was there. I went back there the next day, and the mods had deleted 6 of my posts. None of my posts were bad or insulting or anything, it was just kind of obvious they recognized my name from this site, didnt like me, so they cleared half of my posts. I never went back there again. Its their loss. hihi Jarmo doesn't play bullshit games like that, and neither do the mods.

Friday Headliners : The Prodigy
Saturday Headliners : Metallica
Sunday Headliners : ?

I personally feel it'll be Slipknot.

I read somewhere they signed a 3 year deal with the organisers.

2004 (on before Korn & Metallica-who headlined)
2005 (on just before System Of a Down-who headlined)
2006 (Headliners?)

anyone see a pattern here?

I saw them last year.............jesus..... they were utter shit.

Prodigy are actually going to be the band on the main stage before Metallica.

Not convinced about Slipknot; I thought they were on hiatus whilst Corey did the 2nd Stone Sour album and the others did whatever they do when Slipknot have some downtime.

i just can't believe how some of you think that gn'r and metallica will have something to do with eachother again, don't you remember what happened in 92?

It's not like axl would take the band back AND go play with metallica wtf?

if they both would play download they sure wouldn't play the same night...

They wouldn't play on the same night. It's a festival. Not a one-day thing...

I still don't know what to believe, Ross might have used irony in his words and meant the new band.

i tend to believe your irony teory more and more, at first it didn't make any sence to me but i simply can't imagine any other reason for him to post a thing like that... however, although slah and ross seem to have a certain dialog i have a hard time believing that slash told ross to post such a thing, slash knows better than to provok

e axl at this point....

although slipknot had a great run last year with subliminal verses i can't imagine they will headline such a huge event this year with nothing new out... guns could just for because they are so rumored, but slipknot, neppe....
