I love OIAM, but could you imagine the reaction from the press he'd get if he played that live in New York.  He's still dealing with negative reactions from that song when it was released 17 years ago.

Some guy asked me where Finck was Friday night, and after I pointed him out, the guy was like "Thaaaaaaaaaats Finck?!, I thought that was John Frusciante(sp?) from the Red Hot Chili Peppers!" rofl

hahha, that's a good one. Ive been saying since I saw a pic of Finck with long hair and a beard a while back, that he's got the Frusciante look! Grin

Axl has made some mistakes in the past we all know that and I think its pretty reasonable for the old-school fans to want their favourite band GUNS N ROSES not the new-gnr.

On Friday night when I was really drunk, I was far up in Mezz1 by the doors at the bar when they came on... I seen the band and I was thought to myself "Where is finck, holy shit paul huge is back......" I thought Huge was on stage with long hair and a beard.. no clue it was Robin until I walked back up to the front and took a better look. Then I was like "ohh ok, so who is the new third" and was told bumblefoot by some other guy.

Also, I'd say 10-25% of all the people there really had no clue who was in the band.

Doesn't really matter.  I'm an avid fan and for me as long as Axl is there and the music is good so be it.

I think it's reasonable to think that the majority of ticket and CD buyers are casual rock fans and HAVE NO IDEA what's happened with GNR in the last decade. I mean, if this is the largest GNR internet forum with about 6000 members and GNR could potentially play for a million people, well you get the idea.... is it okay to call people "dickheads" because they like GNR music but haven't followed the band's business? I don't think there's been any major official press releases coinciding with the tours that firmly dispell any possible beliefs that this is the same GNR people may have seen in the 80's or 90's. Maybe there should be a disclaimer on ticket buying sites like, "Slash and Duff and Izzy are not in the band...", that way you won't have to "knock any dickheads out"...

^ I'll state it again since you appear to be slow.  The only people I called "dickheads" were the assholes yelling "you suck" and "get off stage."  please read all the post before you comment, saves us all space and time.

While calling them "dickheads" may be a bit extreme.. I do find it shocking that these people were able TO GET tickets for the show, by just being a casual fan.. Remember, this was a fairly small theater, and after the presale tix sold, I'm sure these were very hard tickets to get.. THEN I would figure after a 'casual fan' got tix to the show, I would think out of curiousity they would look up online to find out who the new band is, as most rock fans know they split up... I can understand alot of them thinking Buckethead was still in, and not recognizing Finck from his Goth/NIN look (Man that fucker does look ALOT like Frusciante..), but to think GnR would show up with the UYI band is pretty absurd. That's like going to a Cowboys game and expecting to see Michael Irvin, Troy Aikman, and Emmit Smith.

Well you have since changed the title of the original post from "Dickheads who don't know who is in GNR" to "Dickheads who can't keep their mouth shut" which changes the whole dynamic of this thread. Now who's wasting time and space?

I had someone ask me who was in the band first, Izzy or Gilby on Friday night.? I uttered Izzy as I was in shock to be at a GNR concert and hearing a question like that.

You're an obsessive fan just like the rest of us, don't act like an elite prick to the casual fans.

Thegunslinger said everything

"I mean who would blow 70$ and be able to get these tickets (they sold out in 2 mins) without having any idea what Guns has been doing the past 10 years."

Elite prick to the casual fans my ass.

The person that yelled "Plastic Surgery"? is probably not? a GNR fan but a hater. There are some sick bastards in this world that would take time out of their miserable lives? and pay $70? ?so that they can ridicule somebody.?

It is strange. I was on the floor and the worst I heard was 2 guys fighting over which Illusion album Madagascar was on?Huh?? Can't really fault people , though, for showing up and checking out the new lineup - Did'nt really hear any bashing from where I was

I didn't encounter GNR bashing, I just encountered idiots in the crowd. One guy who was just banging into people on the floor during BFMV on friday night who quickly got pushed to the back. And another shmuck who decided to buy a beer and pop pills right next to me...

I mean how fucking stupid can you be?! You're at the first GNR show in 3 years, you want to pop pills?! Furthermore, chase them with alcohol? I'm not straight edge, but I'm not a moron either...I would never be that stupid. Kid had a death wish or something.

And then sunday night, when I was up in the Mezz, a pit started on the floor which included old men hitting each other, not understanding what a mosh pit was, taking it too seriously, and getting hurt and into fights. Needless to say, the pit lasted all of 10 minutes. Morons.

People, if you are going to Guns and Roses, and they actually show up and kick ass on stage like they just did, why would you want to miss a second of it by fighting, getting wasted, or high? Someone explain. Maybe I just love the music to much to not want to be left out of GNR performing at their peak.

I agree with you for the most part. Although some people find drinking a bit or maybe using some drugs responsibly to enhance the overall expierience, I think people who get tottaly wasted or tottaly high on a number of drugs really miss out on the show. I was actually upset at myself Friday night as I missed some songs to have to use the bathroom or go buy drinks, I took the boozing a bit too far. But, I was still under control, made sure I was there for all the new songs. ok But, the idiots fighting, moshing, or screaming dumb shit really need to go. Hopefully they've all learned now that this is how the new band is gonna be and won't come any more or if they do will at least respect the new guys.

So were the people who didn't know the lineup &/or expecting to the Slash & the UYI guys, were they older fans (ie. Me, haha) thinking it was 1993, or younger fans who have WTTJ & SCOM on their Ipod?? or both.

Well yes, ive probably seen 150+ bands....I couldnt name half of em...On friday Im going to see Buckcherry, I know Josh Todd and Keith Nelson, thats it....I really dont care for the names for the drummer, I only pay attention to the bands i absolutly love (Gn'r, Crue, Manson ect.) ?Concerts are fun, for casual, hardcore fans and all, you dont have to worship the band to go to their show...70 bucks is pretty cheap for a gnr show also. A couple weeks ago I went to Avenged Sevenfold, I couldnt name you one member of the band, except maybe the singers...I went cause I didnt have anything else to do that Saturday...it was a good show, i'd go see em again, but im not gonna try learn their whole life stories...
