So I think that's cool then! There's no reason to still be mad with them!!

I'm sure it's a frustating thing, that you all wanted to KILL THEM because of this at the time...but it's been almost 4 years!!! This should be over right now...

"although he is gay."

say no more

Shut up and grow up. Gays can be GnR fans too!

The fact that Pierre Robert is queer certainly goes a long way in explaining his distaste for "One in a Million" and Axl in general. To think otherwise is naive. Not exactly sure why pointing out this obvious bias would cause you to say shut up and grow up.

Friday May 12th, on my to the Hammerstein, I called up Pierre and requested some GNR to get me pumped for the show.  3 songs later he played Paradise City.  Pierre is a nice mellow DJ, but GNR doesn't seem to fit his "hippie" persona.  I like him, but diagree with his GNR views.  But Pierre is one of the nicest personalities on the radio, which is better than having a loud mouth screamin' in your ears.

seriously, let it die.  I wonder if pierre was even at the show.  if he wasn't he should stop complaining.  i was there and you don't see me dwelling on it.  I just think its unfair for him to contantly say things like "i hope no one supports the new album" and saying how terrible IRS was.  whatever man.

Rock Out With Your C**k Out

« Reply #30 on: May 16, 2006, 12:50:05 PM »

I was at the 2002 Philly no show - was going to be my first GNR concert - I was disappointed but stayed loyal. ?Finally was able to see them Sunday - Which finally gave me complete resolution. ?

While at the show in 2002 - Just before they announced the concert would be postponed - I spoke with a guard in the concourse and he stated they knew that GNR was not going to perform hours prior but wanted the minor league hockey game across the parking lot to be over and people out of area before announcing.

Also the venue were serving beer and such up to announcement - So more than the band caused the riot - The venue needed to take some heat but deflected with some what I believe were staged photos of destruction.

Well anyways - just wanted to add what I experienced in 2002 and say that when listening to that station they seem to play GNR alot and I agree with CD release they will need to support it by air play and eat their words. ?GNR bashing does seem the cool thing to do ever since the 2002 incident.

Hopefully the potential interview tonight will give others some resolution if some type of explanation or apology is given.

Sorry for length.

Exactly! Because of "One in a Million," Elton John had a huge problem with Axl until they met and smoothed things over.

Pierre is more of the "hippy" type of personality so I would never expect him to relate to many of the things GNR wrote about. That's okay. We are all different.

You fail to mention that Pierre said he would gladly give Axl a second chance if he would just apologize. So it's not he is some completely irrational hater. He just wants to see Axl do the right thing. He said he loves the city of Philadelphia and it bothers him to see Axl do something hurtful to the city like that,

Resortin' To Violence Since '77

« Reply #37 on: May 16, 2006, 04:48:17 PM »

I don't feel that rock radio finds it to be 'in' at all to bash on GNR/Axl.
I'm on air at WMMS in Cleveland and I think people just don't know what to make of the transition, but everyone would love to see GNR come back strong.
If rock radio in Philly is still a little miffed over the 02 affair, it might be justifiable.
I know when GNR was in Cleveland in 02 our station was all over the event from promotions, programming, and on down. When any entity is tied into an event like that and something goes awry it's very stressful, and everyone winds up wiping egg off of their faces. Maybe MMR felt the burn on some of the outcome.
Not defending anyone/anything, but just sayin'...
I had a hell of a time at the Hammerstein on Friday, and the listeners seem genuinely interested in seeing GNR back.

I just downloaded the podcast, and I can't believe how bad he trashed Axl.  It went on for almost 20 minutes.  That is a lot of air time to spend.  I was sitting at the Philly show as well, but while a little miffed, I didn't take it personally like it seems some people did.  I just hope it doesn't stop GnR from playing somewhere in the vicinity.  While it was fun to travel up to NY for a night, I'd rather they play a little closer during a U.S. tour.

Good for Matt Cord that he called in and attempted to diffuse some of the bashing, because in my opinion, it was a little over the top.  Oh well, I wouldn't be surprised if that bit made Axl think twice about calling in..  Guess we'll never know..
