Apparently last night before playing Madagascar Axl said that "Madagascar" was actually written 14 years ago, during the UYI tours.

Is that true that he actually said that? if so what does it mean....he came up with the riff on the piano then? It was written lyrically? did Slash, Duff, Gilby, Dizzy, Matt have a hand in composing it?

ok...I guess Matt is a joke to everybody

fact is he did all the drum parts for the UYI records and y'all love 'em....this was supposed to be a serious question Undecided

i find it intriguing as to the direction that the band was taking during that time...was this song worked on during the time right before Slash quit? Like when izzy came back breifly/

I find it intresting that It would've been writtend during the UYI days... maybe some of the "new" stuff is also written then?

ok thanks man....it was on a blog that i was reading as the show unfolded, but half the time the info is wrong anyway so who knows....


is there anybody else who attended the show yesterday that heard exactly what the 14 years comment was before Maddy?

In another thread someone said that it was written during the uyi-era but that lyrics were written in '99

You can not deny the intrigual part that Slash, Duff, Matt, Steven, Izzy etc... played in Guns N' Roses and in Axl's success.
  I am sick of the Buckethead is better than Slash, or Brain is better than Matt.

Just because Slash left the band, doesn't mean you can't wish him well and be thankful for what he did to craft GNR.

as for Maddy....
The song does fit with the Estranged, Coma and Locomotive style GNR seemed to be approaching back during the UYI days
