Stick to your guns

In the VH1 Behind the Music on GnR there is an interview with him from when they were recording UYI. Hes talking about how good the albums are going to be and how he doesn't want to be defined by AFD.

Come 2006 GnR are playing a setlet:
- where over half the songs are from AFD
- which opens and closes with the AFD classics
- which has almost every song on the album

I like GnR heaps, but its pretty clear that AFD has totally come to define Axl Rose and this is something that he actively fosters today.

Yeah, i've seen behind the music loads of times.Axl knows this is the album that made him famous, that's why he plays so many songs off that album, but he should play more from the UYI's albums if he wants to be recognised for them aswell as appetite. yes

NO, afd made recognised GN'R as a rock band yeah but the uyi albums solidified the fact that they are a great band, i mean look at the intrest in GNR now, i mean they wouldnt be intrested in GNR on one album

There isn't much intrest in GN'R now... Mainstream wise anyway.

Funny how there's more GN'R in Velvet Revolver then there is in Guns N' Roses.

They released an album in 1993 called the spagetti incident although it was just a bunch of punk covers.

I agree 100%, but i'm just sayin people recognise axl more for AFD rather than the UYI albums, if he played more songs from the illusions maybe people who aren't die-hard fans like us would go out and buy the illusion albums,  cos i bet a lot of people have AFD and not the illusions.

you know how many people in American don't even know the illusions, just maybe NR? AFD is the signature gnr album that everyone knows.. King of the countdowns.... of course back then it was more important then today

Would those be the same people who get all bent out of shape about the new line-up and insist that Slash et al are unbeatably amazing and irreplaceable? Because that would be ironic in itself, wouldn't it?
