I never wanted you to be so full of anger. . . .

« on: May 15, 2006, 01:23:12 PM »

Hey guys,

I haven't seen a thread about this.  I heard that there was tention between Axl and Tommy.  Can somebody explain how they know that there were issues and what they were?

All I know is that I saw them hug on Friday and they seemed pretty tight.  I also know from previous Tommy interviews that he is a huge Axl fan and supporter.

thnx

axl explained last night that he and tommy were fighting last week, and it got to a point where they each said fuck you to the other. however, he said that tommy was now enjoying the show a lot. also- on friday's show, tommy at one point randomly said "im having fun" and axl got really happy and hugged him and said to the audience "you guys don't know how much that means right now".

anyway, it seems like they patched over their differences, which were probably just caused by stress from preparing for these shows.

I know what you mean but it still concerns me.  Nobody ever wins those battles with Axl and they usually end badly.
It took me 10 years to get over the old band; if this band breaks up I'm done.

Well I'm glad to hear things worked out. ?I didn't know who Tommy was before his GNR days, but I am a huge fan now. ?I love his solo album and would be disappointed if he were to leave the band.

I bet Axl respects the shit out of Tommy for not being a yes man. ?It will only make their friendship tighter and band FN great!!!!

BTW. . .Thanks for clearing that up for me.

If Tommy can put up with Paul Westerberg then he can put up with Axl Rose.  hihi

The common thing that the band share (Ron Thal included) is that when Axl tells them he is ready to take GnR on the road they all love doing the GnR thing.

You have to expect little bits of in-fighting in any band at times (especially when you consider all the frustration surrounding GnR in the last 5 years) but from what I've been told about the gigs so far, the band seem to be much more united than in 2002 and are ready to hit the road and take Europe by storm.  peace

I was at the show Friday, and didn't hear about this until now.
I would hope it wasn't anything with his commitment to Soul Asylum, etc...
I would imagine, with Tommy being the band leader in rehearsals so to speak, that he was probably voicing his opinions on whether the band (and new guitarists) were ready to perform certain songs.

They're just some things Axl said during the shows. There isn't a full clear bootleg yet, that's why you may have missed that.

this is info that axl shared at friday and sunday's shows (both of which I attended). the "fighting" apparently came to a head last tuesday (or at least i think thats what axl said last night). i dont think this has been a long-standing fight, just a minor one that kinda blew up at the time.

SLAM DUNK!!!

« Reply #11 on: May 15, 2006, 02:52:54 PM »

We'll probably never know what Axl n' Tommy were fighting about ... or even if there was an actual disagreement ... but I'm wondering if it could've been over that DJ Matt Cord? letting GNR stuff out on air that Tommy told him in confidence?? Didn't this guy mention the NYC shows during the Tommy interview before they were announced officially?? and on another one of his shows he was also talking about how GNR was now gonna have 4 guitarists.

... but then again, this is the same DJ who is supposedly gonna do a phone interview tonight with Axl ... http://www.heretodaygonetohell.com/board/index.php?topic=30051.0

Maybe this is why Last nights show was 4-5 songs short then Fridays.

I wonder if their fight has anything to do with Axl only showing up for 1 of the rehearsals last week?

I guess so. trifles
seeing as how tommy's having fun on the show meant a lot,  possibly it had something to do with the way they run the shows or the band.

Tommy and the guys I'm sure have been busting their asses for a few weeks, maybe Axl made a comment and that set the two of them off.? I know from experience that happens alot in bands.

well, Tommy's nickname is The General, so i guess that leads us to believe that he is the one keeping axl in line(probably not a easy task)
