From rainx at www.thenewguns.com

I e-mailed this to Merck:

Hey man, sorry to bother you, but a lot of my forum users have been asking me to
try and find out about the Hammerstein Tickets that are for sale on eBay, even though
they don't go on sale until Friday:
http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?sofocus=bs&sbrftog=1&from=R10&satitle=guns+roses+hammerstein&sacat=-1%26catref%3DC6&bs=Search&sargn=-1%26saslc%3D2&sadis=200&fpos=07011&ftrt=1&ftrv=1&saprclo=&saprchi=&fsop=1&fsoo=1

Is that Legal, to resell the tickets for 140 over face? And also, how do they have
them if they aren't on sale yet, and lastly, would you warn GNR fans against buying
the tickets from someone who claims to have them before they even go on sale.

Rock on man

His response:

There is no way anyone can have any tickets yet so they should avoid these people
at all costs as they will be rip offs. We are looking at putting together a presale
for members of all of the GN'R forums. No guarantees but we are looking at it

That is really sweet... They really should do that cause we're all dying to see them.  I'm driving 16 hrs over the course of 2 days just to see this show.

I'm sure there will be some restrictions.  They might just get a list of members from the big message boards and make you log in with your username/password from here.  OR something similar... not quite sure how it would work....

Scalpers don't have the tickets in hand and if you ask anyone on ebay selling them, they tell you the same.  Its a matter of fact that most scalpers have means of getting tickets that we don't.  Anyone that buys the tickets certainly doesn't expect to have them in hand before friday.

if mgmt actually does this presale thing, it`d be pretty cool i think, and it would be the first action for the fans in the last 4 years i guess hihi

i guess jarmo knows about it......

I think a general on-sale is probably the best route.   Undecided    That being said, I hope to get tickets and hope all other fans get tickets on 4/21, not some greedy ticket scalper/broker.

In regard to this presale idea for the forums: What would determine "the pecking order" of who or what forums would get the presale password?  Also, the boards would have tons of new accounts (read: ticket brokers & scalpers) registered just in attempts to get the password for presale tickets.

Just my 2 cents, but I could already predict Jarmo having to ban about 1000+ users if this concept of a forums-only-presale were to happen.  Imagine board members with accounts 4 years old not getting tickets and a "newbie" or someone who registered just for the password then getting tickets.  Chaos & Drama.   Shocked

I just wanted to throw this possibility in the air:

Back when VR first formed, I went to purchase tickets for their Boston show at the Avalon (hoping to see majority of GNR members) and they had tickets listed on Ticketmaster and on web site that was "presesnting" them.? I tried calling Ticketmaster five minutes before they were on sale and had the lady wait until they were available inorder to get tickets.? No luck.? I even tried online to get tickets all day.? No luck.? Eventually I called the venue and they said they were sold out.? I asked when they sold out and the gentlement said "20 minutes ago" after I had been trying for 5 hours.? He said that even though they were listed on Ticketmaster, you were unable to purchase them from Ticketmaster.? Tickets had to be purchased via a different website.? I foresee this being a similar situation...   maybe?

Could this happen?

there's no risk to these brokers selling tix in advance. they make $140 for every ticket they manage to get. if they get 0 tix, HOPEFULLY they give you your money back.

AND if they get 4, and you are 5th on their list, HOPEFULLY they give you your money back.

Good place to stay near the show? Huh

I'm staying at this place .. http://marriott.com/property/propertypage/NYCMD - It was a pretty good deal for NYC - just under 200 / night.  I don't know much, if anything, about NYC - but my understanding is pretty much anything in the Times Square area is a safe bet.  Remember, they have public transportation up the freaking ying yang there to get from place to place.

A bit more on-topic: A forum member pre-sale would be great.  It'd be a lot better to pack this place with fans than with people who need to be in the "in crowd" type of folks.

I got the rate through my Marriott Rewards program thing.  Not sure if that lowers it or not.  I think I got 191/night.

I don't even understand how that could happen.  Why would Ticketmaster list them if they weren't actually selling them?
