This is not a criticism, but why the need for two keyboard players? Is that really necessary? I'm not a musician or anything, so I don't know. Does one play keyboard and the other play another type of keyboard type instrument?

I think pittman does the special effects and the samples, etc while Dizzy plays the keys, however im not sure. Pink Floyd had 2 keyboards on tour aswell for those reasons I believe.

That is correct. Dizzy is piano/keyboards while Pittman is the sampling, synth, and all that jazz. Pittman will be very busy when they play more new songs.

Before all my posts about subjective matters there should be an IMO before the post. I took this sig down but of course it has to go back up.

Right - I think it will become more apparent when the new songs start rolling out.

dizzy does some synthesizer work. It is mostly Chris that does that and the sampling and creating the new avant garde sounds of Guns N Roses.

Doing the digital stuff isn't like playing a keyboard... you don't press a key and get a note, you get loops and segments, etc.? So one hand movement unleashes a lot of sounds and effects that may not appear to be coming from him.

Never saw anybody complaing because of Ted Zig-Zag's keyboards. Why for Pittman now, when the new songs clearly have a lot of sound fx that Dizzy wouldn't be able to do live?

...and the 3rd keyboardist Axl plays November Rain  hihi i am sure if Axl was up to it he could ditch Dizzy and play all the piano parts himself, i guess he chooses not to, he does after all have trouble remembering the lyrics from time to time  Grin

I suppose his role as an actual member of the band rather than as a touring musician confuses people. Green Day had a keyboardist and an additional guitar player but only on tour but they weren't considered actual members of the band. Pittman seems to have done some amount of work in the studio so presumably that's why he's considered a full member of the band, which many fans consider a joke. Zig-Zag and Roberta and the rest were never considered anything more than touring musicians.

Pittman must surely be pretty bored during all the appetite stuff however, but like people said he's useful for the new stuff like Madagascar, Oh My God, There Was A Time, etc. He would also do the Paul Buckmeister stuff if those songs ever get played live! Also, I'm almost certain I read somewhere Axl said that he and Pittman co-wrote Madagascar.
