How about Richard? I haven't heard anyone talk about his performance? He always showed a lot of energy on stage in the past. To the people who went to the show, how was he?

I love Richard, and he was awesome as always, but the reason you aren't hearing much is because Robin fuckin' stole the show

As I said, this 3 guitar players thing pushed him out of the spotlights. It sucks. He would have deserved to take the Lead, and not only played a few solos... I think Richard is kinda under-exploited in the band. I would have liked to see him more under the spotlights, really taking the lead with Robin, doing more solos. I hoped that until the 3 guitar players circus thing was announced a few of days ago (no bad feeling against Ron though, he is a great guy and it's not his fault). You know, the New-York Times review didn't even mention his name, most of the fans reviews didn't also... I don't know... it's like if he didn't play the show or wasn't there.
Anyway... Axl is the boss, but I still don't understand his 3 guitar players obsession. The band does NOT need 3 players when I listen to the bootlegs and watch the shows. It's un-necessary. The songs are not so complex, 2 guitars + 2 keyboards are enough, it's not Mozart or Beethover you know, it's just a Rock n' Roll band and Rock n' Roll music. Back in the days, Slash did almost all the guitar parts (Lead and rythm) alone because Izzy and Gilby were under-mixed and we could barely heard them... nobody ever complained about the fact the old band needed one more guitar player...

As I said, this 3 rd guitar player thing pushed him out of the spotlights. It sucks. He would have deserved to take the Lead, and not only played a few solos... I think Richard is kinda under-exploited in the band. I would have liked to see him more under the spotlights, really taking the lead, doing more solos. The New-York Times review didn't even mention his name, most of the fans reviews didn't also... I don't know... it's like if he didn't play or he wasn't there. if the guy has an ego, but I was right when I said the 3 guitar player thing would have hurted his "promotion" in this band. He doesn't have the place he deserves. He deserves much more in my opinion.
Anyway... Axl is the boss, but I still don't understand his 3 guitar players obsession. The band does NOT need 3 players when I listen to the bootlegs and watch the shows. It's un-necessary. The songs are not so complex, back in the days, Slash did almost all the guitar parts (Lead and rythm) alone because Izzy and Gilby were under-mixed and we could barely heard them...
But you haven't heard the other tracks...there could be every need for a third guitarist, we just hasn't heard it yet. Maybe Axl wants to mix up the styles to keep it creative, interesting...you could argue the band don't need two keyboardists but they do
Richard has never complained about a third guitarist has he? Perhaps he's happy being the rythm guitarist for GN'R - you never hear much about Malcolm Young, but all of the fans know how important he is to AC/DC.

Richard sounded great and looked like he was having a blast. The 12th showed a lineup that was comfortable, confident, and happy (other than the understandably-nervous Thal). I don't think any of the band was too concerned with getting their time in the spotlight, just putting on a fun rock show, which they damn well did.

Richard was GREAT. I remember closing my eyes during one of his solos and thinking "shit... that sounds JUST LIKE Slash on my AFD cd". He was great throughout the show. The reality is, however, that the rhythm guitar position in GN'R has always been one that kind of lurks in the shadows (just ask Izzy, Gilby or Paul Huge about that).... and now even moreso with two lead guitarists of the quality of Robin Finck and Bumblefoot.

when fortus played a solo he sounded perfect. better sound than bumblefartjavascript:void(0);not that Thal was bad.... just didnt like his sound and didnt like the pointless solos he played between songs. Fortus was tight. Dont know if he's a shredder but I wish it was just Fortus and Fink. I may change my mond after seeing them on the 17th.

I caught myself thinking that too (i.e. just need Finck/Fortus)... BUT we've got to give Bumblefoot a little more time to get comfortable out there first.... Bumblefoot had a pretty shaky show... but there were a few times I heard some guitar playing that ONLY could have come from his guitar... dude has some serious chops. It was also cool how Finck, Bumblefoot and Fortus would all play next to each other/acknowledge each other at various points during the show... there seems to be good chemistry between the three and Bumblefoot is supposed to be a pretty decent guy... far different than the "vibe" that existed when Buckethead was in the band and Finck and Bucket seemed to stay as far away from each other as possible...

The ending solo was played by Bumblefoot...perhaps one of his shining moments on a very nervous night for him
Fortus however, was awesome, always a good performer IMO

I would have liked to Richard take lead as well. But now it's back to the way it was in 2002,other than the band looks cooler now
