Well even if Slash is the one lying (Which i dont think it is), that means that Axl has also lied. If you remember the Rolling Stone interview in January this year, Axl says he loves Slash and hasn't spoken to him in 10 years! Take from that what you want, but 1 or 2 months later and he came out with the statement about the October 2005 incident. So Slash may or may not be lying, but somewhere along the line, AXL HAS LIED!

Remember the "official" press release did not have the paragraph about the visit.  Then, we see a version of the release with the paragraph talking about the visit.  I wonder if that whole thing was just some scam?

"why would Axl lie in an actual press release?" is what everyone's argument was on that.  Like Slash said, maybe it was to create attention for his new tour/album?

My opinion is that someone added this part on & i doubt Axl did i mean most press releases missed these crucial parts it just seems too unrealistic the whole hting. Its gonna be funny when Axl clears the air & says he didnt put that on the statement someone else did then every axl nut hanger on this forums gonna have to eat grow (not that they ever do, they're never wrong, nor is axl  Roll Eyes )

Remember that there were two official press- releases? One of them with the part about Slash visiting Axl in it, the other one without it. I think it' s possible somebody added the Slash- story to the press release (for whatever reason...) without Axl even knowing about it. Someone should definitely ask him about it...

If the Slash part was intentionally put in the press release by Axl, I tend to believe that Axl' s telling the truth and didn' t make the whole thing up (except for publicity reasons maybe... which would be a shitty thing to do IMO). I can' t explain why, it' s just a gut feeling or something like that...

I'm gonna sort of comment on a few posts all in this one instead of spreading it apart.  Here's my take on the whole thing.  I also believe that someone may have gotten ahold of the press release and fucked with it after it came out.  The original one didn't have that stuff in it......it got put out, someone alters it and resends it out to the business wire crap.  Not conspiracy theory, but I do believe that people would fuck with GNR/VR for financial gain.  My reasons being the recent discussion of the Metal Sludge rumors about Slash being divorced and all that.  They see there's garnered interest in the Slash/Axl fued so they add this for their prosperity.
I also believe that Axl clarified it when he did the Trunk interview....there were no reunion talks or nothing like that.  Those were all made up by some source and plastered into magazines like Classic Rock.
Another part of me believes that management of both parties are also not to be believed.  It is their job to protect their client and in doing so.....sometimes the truth must be fabricated (such as the Bumblefoot thing and denying he was in talks with the band).   There are a lot of issues at hand and people seem to be quick and point the finger and say Slash is a liar, Axl is a liar, Duff is a liar, etc.
The press had a lot to gain from this........Weiland made a stark comeback at Axl and that was the stuff they wanted.  Fueling the fire so to speak.  When in reality Axl, Slash and Duff probably have no worries in the world about each other (minus the business ends being settled in court).
As for the whole Slash said CD in March......well I'm sure Slash still has many connections to GNR from the past and it's quite possible one of them could have told him this.  Maybe Izzy?  Who knows, but either way....Slash and Axl really haven't said horrible things about each other.  Minor things like "he's in my ass or I feel sorry for that guy", but shit most of the times they've complimented each other.  Eh let the press have their bullshit.  I just wish to live in a world where GNR and VR can co-exist and even respect each other.  One big RNR family.  Fuck the media.

I don't think those words came from Axl's mouth to begin with really.
I think Axl's press release is lying!
one of his suits found out that they could slip that thing out on the GNR forums, but leave it out of the official press release, and get away with it in court like that..."we never said that, someone on the GNR forums added that part!". in that way, it spread like fire on the boards,in other words they built a storm or rumors in the GNR/VR community. and with that in mind, I think what Slash said on the radio about creating a hype is correct.

I totally agree.  I saw one press release and then saw another, with the last paragraph added.  Think about it....even if Slash did go up to his house at 4:30 in the morning, do you think Axl would have let him through his pearly white gates?  I mean, come on.....     I have always doubted it ever happened.  And I don't think Axl would say that, if it didn't happen - he can be an asshole at times, but not that much of one!

Slash is the liar.

Axl wouldn't just make that up, a whole story.
