Richard Fortus, the phenomenon

I think it will be a Rythm guitar player. I have the feeling Richard will take the lead.

Blues Saraceno would be great is you want to go the technical guitarist route. I'm pretty sure Marc Ford isn't doing anything at the moment, but he's way more in the bluesy style. Who knows, it could be anyone. How funny would it be if it were Dean Deleo?

Me too think Dickie takes the lead for some songs. yes

I'd rather it be a no-name undiscovered talent...that way we'll know the guy is in the band cause he's GOOD, not just because he's famous...

people put too much importance on the fame and not enough on quality...when you choose someone just because they're famous, you'll just end up picking someone who isn't right for the band - velvet revolver did it with scott weiland, and he ruined that band...

i'd rather the guy blow me away with this awesome playing than his fame...besides, if the guy is good, he'll become famous rather quickly just by being in gnr and creating quality music.
I think scott fits for vr. VR is nothing but a super group.
otherwise I totally agree with you.
And seeing as how the other members are rather unknown or cult heros, Axl agrees with you too, I bet. ok

Marc Ford is a little busy with The Black Crowes. What I saw of him playing with them in January he would be a good choice actually.

well these guys should prolly be ruled out

Michael Angelo - Denied in an interview
Daniel Brooks - Denied it in his Myspace
John 5 - Is committed to Rob Zombie
Dave Navarro - Is busy with the show Rockstar-SuperNova
Bukethead returns - Axl, Dizzy, Tommy all said No
Wes Borland - is touring with a band called "From First To Last"
Zakk Wylde - Touring with Ozzfest

so that leaves these guys from Strigl's list :

Nuno Bettencourt. - 2% chance he is the new 3rd guitarist in GnR
Bryan Kehoe - 10% chance he is the new 3rd guitarist in GnR
Ritchie Kotzen - 3% chance he is the new 3rd guitarist in GnR
Josha Craig (or whatver the hell his name was, from Boston) 0.5% chance he is the new 3rd guitarist in GnR
Eddie Van Halen - 0.25% chance he is the new 3rd guitarist in GnR
Bill Howerdale - 9% chance he is the new 3rd guitarist in GnR

Bryan Kehoe  and Bill Howerdale they are doing what ?!

If a shredder is still needed, then it's not Howerdel.

But Howerdel would be badass if CD was re-recorded with Howderel.  He is great with effects.  but of course we don't want CD recorded again, do we? hihi

i'm tired of hearing people talking about how guys can "shred"....this is the most over-rated, worthless skill in the history of guitar playing...if you listen to slash's solos, he isn't constantly "shredding" as fast as he can...he's playing MELODIES that fit in with the rest of the song, rather than trying to steal the show and draw attention to himself with fast playing...yes it's nice to hear a fast solo now and then, but only if it works and has a good melody.

and whoever buckethead's teacher was...if he taught buckethead, then he has to be old as hell, and is therefore too old to be in gnr.

I don't think Paul Gilbert is that much older then ie. Axl... and Gilbert can soulfully shredd (tm)  Tongue
