Chinese Democracy Is Coming Some Day!!!

« Reply #780 on: May 13, 2006, 02:04:55 AM »

Very good guitarist!!!
No matter who the new guy was, there are going to be people who are going to bitch and trash on the guy, even though they have never heard him, or given him a chance.

YES!!! Fucking YES! I love Ron Thal - and I have gained so much respect for Axl for bringing him back into the band after that ugly little incident a year or so back (BF auditioned, then was booted for saying he'd auditioned - not for publicity, but because people were saying he was definitely in the band when he'd only auditioned). Go Ron Thal and Axl!

Richard Fortus, the phenomenon

« Reply #785 on: May 13, 2006, 04:22:50 AM »

Ron Thal is a great player, and a great guy. I still prefer Richarfd Fortus though, but Ron Thal is a good choice. ok
However, I would have liked to see Richard on lead with Robin, stick with 2 guitar players, but Axl still wants 3 guitar players so it's like that, we have to get used to it.

Give the guy time to settle in, I bet a huge reason behind these shows is for Ron to get settled into the band. The fact that he seemed quite nervous is understandable and I think its evident that he wants to really be part of this band and make it work. Ther's no denying the talent this guy has, he was like the young guitarist of the year in '96 so he ain't no subsitute for Bucket. I think Axl liked the style of Bucket and just wanted someone similar (less wierd tho!). i think gnr need a good shredder in the band now... that's evident from the leaks.

Give the guy time, you'll see!  Wink

Bitches leave

He definately had a rough start, botched his first two solos including the end of November Rain. He was better on TWAT, filling the Bucket outro but he is such a short, skanky looking guy. I was not into Thal as much as I was into Bucket.

mr. bbf being in the band is almost too good to be true. he is such a great guitar player and a wonderful guy. i'm sure this band is gonna create some magic together.

did mr. bbf only play on his bbf guitar or on others as well?

Ron is very highly reguarded in the guitar world, well Satch is the one who recommended Axl to give him a try out.

This is for BabyGorilla and the people like him.
Before all my posts about subjective matters there should be an IMO before the post. I took this sig down but of course it has to go back up.

Eh? It was Chris Pitman.

EDIT:? Oh, I see what you're saying.? Satch recommended him to Pitman.

(PS: You guys really should give Pitman more credit).

I've said it elsewhere that I'm very sad to see Buckethead go, regardless as to whether or not Bumblefoot is a proficient replacement (I haven't heard him before, hadn't even heard the name)....I respect his technical ability regardless, I was just a huge fan of Buckethead and felt that he really added a great dimension to the GNR tracks. But respect to them all. I'm sure we will all grow to appreciate Bumblefoot moreso.

I wonder if Buckethead's parts will be re-recorded by Bumblefoot?

For sure, if the album goes out without his playing on it, i can't see how it'll work. He's different to bucket as well. As always with GNR though, we won't know till Uncle Axl tells us!? peace

.......Or the when the album comes out!

Seeing Ron replace Buckethead just made my day. He's the only real replacement for Bucket. I said it in 2004 and it's still every bit as true today.... I'm a happy man.

But I wonder if the can just erase BH's parts and have Bumblefoot play on the songs. Wouldn't they have to rework everything? It'd be better just to release it sooner with BH's parts.

My guess is he would help with the remaining songs on the third album.
