Stone Roses & Slash?
Reports indicate that former Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash offered to join British band the Stone Roses after guitarist John Squire left the group in 1996.

However, frontman Ian Brown turned him down and apparently regrets the decision. Brown says, "I wish we'd taken him on. But at the time we were like, 'No, we hate Guns N' Roses, fuck off. Is he going to bring his python with him?' "But now I think it would have been amazing." That certainly would have made for an interesting combination. Of course, Slash found a pretty good home in Velvet Revolver.

i was told by the guy who did join the roses that they considered slash, but decided not to take him on because he was too different to the rest of them and it would have caused some problems.

This really shows how in '96 GN'R were so not cool, but that ten years later, they are back in style.

Slash seems to be pretty easy going, like he would join something that isn't 100 rock as long as he can play..

Never heard this one before. I reckon Slash could have fit in quite well with the kind of laid back sound they had. You could see him coming up with an amazing psychadelic bluesy intro or something.

GUNS N' ROSES guitarist SLASH offered to join British band the STONE ROSES after their guitarist left, but was knocked back by scathing frontman IAN BROWN. After JOHN SQUIRE announced his departure from the Manchester rockers in 1996, the band were stunned to receive an offer from guitar great Slash. However, Brown refused to entertain the idea of employing a rock rival - and has been regretting it ever since. Brown says, "I wish we'd taken him on. But at the time we were like, 'No, we hate Guns N' Roses, f**k off. Is he going to bring his python with him?' "But now I think it would have been amazing." Slash currently plays with rock supergroup VELVET REVOLVER.

I have heard through a source that i can't say that Slash is thinking about ditching VR and going with SR again.

This time he will  be in the band.

Already posted, and you should edit the thread title, Slash isn't and never were in the Stone Roses, so I don't know what you mean by "confirmed".

Their was a programme about the stone roses the another night, they where gonna be big!
put it this way, geffen signed them, even at the height of GnR's fame.
There manger fucked them over, made them sign bad deals and took all the money, they couldn't record a follow up album for 4 years because they where in court trying to break free of their manager!

They could have been 1 of the biggest bands in the world!
