I think it potentially could. My reasoning is that David Bowie is in the process of curating a festival called High Line that would take place next spring in the neighborhoods underneath a newly created park on N.Y's West Side. Bowie also has said for it to be a 10 day festival that would call for art and music from both up-and-coming talent and big-name artists that would take stage in this outdoor event. I thought since people keep going nuts on GN'R I would throw up this topic due to Axl and Bowie both being somewhat friends and Bowie looking for big names what better than GN'R and it would be a good fit into the GN'R timeline if this all goes down with the cd. I could see Axl doing this american festival for Bowie.

How about the 90's, GN'R doesn't really strike me as a typical festival band... Especially not in the US. Looking at the coming european tour, they play some festival's but most of the dates are individual GN'R concerts.

I think that this has the potential to be the Americans verison of Rock In Rio... You could see sweet Big- Names with some artists on the rise or newbies. Which would be sweet. Plus, the fact that you would probably get all types of music styles adding different fan elements to different artists. If this gets going and Bowie does it right... it could be the best thing to have happened to him besides Labyrinth... I would proally want to see it even without GN'R... Also it is not like Guns would be playing the large festivals of America all the time... which when you think of it... there are few and far between in festivals compared to Europe. I think this would be the only thing GN'R would ever do in a festival setting. They would never do anything like Ozzy/ Sharon's crap.

Could they.. Well yes I suppose. Only problem is they would have to play last. Because with Festivals (Lollapalooza, Woodstock) Bands are on a strict timeline.. If one band goes 20 minutes too long, the next band would say well we'll go long as well, then by the time the final act sets up, the show is already 1 hour over and would have been over by the time they start.

What I'm getting at is with Axl's strong tendency to show up late, he couldn't play in the middle. If GnR is scheduled at 4 and he takes the stage at 4:30, well the festival is going to have to pull the plug on them at 5 (or whenever they're due to end). Believe me, they would.

I know everyone here will probably say GnR should headline ANY festival, but there are plenty of other worthy bands (Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters, Metallica, VR, Audioslave, RHCP)

Yeah Summerfest is about the same in length; I might go to that this yr. for Tom Petty.... I am sure if Axl is not closing a night, he will not do it. Guns is a closer band... So if it is 10 days I think he could sneak one of those 10 nights closing... Plus, VR closing a night... get outta here... nuff said. Though Bowie did say he wanted up- and-coming acts so... I guess they fight that bill maybe being the 3rd or 4th band of 5 or 6...
