I don't think so but it's an interesting theory....but that would mean that izzy's appearance was planned way long ago...I get the impression that it was a spur of the moment kinda meeting for his b-day
That's my take on it too.
Besides, even if he decided to fly to Trinidad at the last minute and not show up, it has nothing to do with the band playing their own material.... He can jam with them if he wants to. They're obviously going to rehearse and play old and new material with or without him.

Izzy may be there for a couple shows...if so, I would think he'd come out for a classic or 2. Maybe the encore
I can see him play brownstone and maybe patience with the band. we shall see
regardless if Izzy is there or not, I really do think we'll hear some new tunes.

And have been patiently waiting for a decade
I hope to hear some new stuff in Paris
Besides, Axl already said on Trunk's radio show that they were going to play Madagascar, so I think we can expect some other new tunes.

Axl said he was pushed into the other concerts thats why he played the old songs he wasnt ready for the new ones to be released ... im confident that he'll play the new ones ... as he said his is his time
2002 was too early for him to play more new sings... gimme a break
I guess we'll hear some of the leaks and the old new songs. Mostly AFD material though.

my guess is that it will be the same setlist as in 2002. It's only logical because there's no album to promote

Even if they go with that school of thought, they could still really mix up the setlist. I mean there's TONS of released GNR they didn't even go near.

Yeah but your assuming we can't have both Izzy play a few songs and have new songs played.
Infact didn't you get that theory from another post in this thread
We don't know what will happen so try not to sound so paranoid about it

axl won't play any new song we haven't heard yet if he hasn't the album ready to release. I mean we have heard a lot of new songs, probably half of CD, so he won't give us the rest until CD is finished.

They played new songs for 4 months in 1991 before UYI came out, and honestly there was a bigger anticipation than beyond the average fan base then there is now for CD. So why couldnt they unleash a whole bunch of new stuff on us?
These are warm up shows, the first chance for the band to see what translates well from the studio to the stage, I expect to be hearing alot of new songs over the next 6 nights.

I agree. Nothing we haven't heard will probably not be played. Think about everyone, it's Axl Rose we are talking about here. How many times as GNR fans have we been let down? Way too fucking many to count. I wouldn't be surprised if it was almost the identical setlist from '02. That's how it was from Vegas and Rio in '01 to the 2002 tour. Almost everything was the same. They will play the same 10 Appetite songs they always do and November Rain, You Could Be Mine, Live and Let Die, KOHD from the Illusions and then Patience. It's so predictable. I hope to hell I am very wrong though and we do get to hear some new stuff but at this point it seems so unlikely, with or without Izzy. Izzy being there will not make a difference between what new songs we get to hear. Axl is so protective over his new songs. He may pick songs that he feels he can sing well too. I hope is voice is ok this time around. When I saw them in '02, it was the best thing I have ever witnessed. Axl is the fucking man.

for christ sake once you idiots hear any news that might sound the least bit opptimistic theres always morons that go around thinking too much into the situation and get freaked out. then they post about it and freak other people out.
BE THANKFUL THERE IS A SHOW PERIOD !?
We are all obviously greatful for shows, otherwise we wouldn't be here. We just don't understand the point of new shows if there is no new music to accompany it.
