Following the recent announcement that METALLICA will play at the Olympic Stadium in Helsinki, Finland on July 15, no less than five of the band's albums have placed in the official Finnish Top 40:

As far as I know, the only place to hear unreleased St. Anger songs is in the documentary Some Kind Of Monster.

(a) Doors open at half 2 and Metallica wont be on till 8 or so. So are BFMV gonna play 4 hour set to keep us 'happy'

At their first gig back in the UK in June 06 at the Hammersmith Apollo I was literally drenched in sweat by the end - i had to leave during the penultimate song as i was certain i was close to blacking out

add that to the fact it was a good 3-4 hour wait too......not really a lot of fun....

Not much new has been reported on the Metallica news front lately, but I've read some recent interviews with Rob and Kirk and they both speak very positively about the new album. Rob mentions it having the dynamics of Master Of Puppets and the melody of the Black album. Kirk also mentions about the band returning to their older style with standard tuning and stuff. Backing tracks to 14 songs have been completed and the band says it will be out in 2008, possibly after March.

I know new album talk is usually always over hyped, but this new album sounds promising, and Kirk sounds really excited about when speaking about it. He calls it the first "proper" Metallica album in 15 years, which disregards most everything after the Black album...

Also, apparently neither of the two new songs they debuted live last year will be on the new album either.
