Who is releasing a greatest hits?
Certainly not Metallica.
Are people calling this new DVD a greatest hits?
I guess they are.
But this DVD is called METALLICA: THE VIDEOS 1989-2004. Not Metallica's Greatest Video Hits or anything like that.
But I could certainly see how some people could see this as a Greatest hits collection considering most of their videos were big hits.

Hey metallex78 .
Did u go to the 2004 Sydney Entcent gig?
Yep, went to the Ent Cent, the two Big Day Out gigs, and met them backstage thanks to the fan club
Also saw them twice in 1998 on the Load/Reload tour. All great concerts.

Then you would agree with me that a pit is ment to be rough right? I just cant understand how some of the people come to this board after seeing a Guns N' Roses show and getting floor tix, then winge about people pushing to get to the front. At the Metallica entcent gig I was about 3 or 4 metres from Het during Blackened N' Fuel but then a few thousand kids wanted to be where I was. Its just the way it is am I right?
What was the band like?

Yeah, I was in the very front row at both 1998 gigs, and stood back a bit at the 2004 shows. But yeah, it's pretty fuckin' rough in there, that's for sure. But as far as rough gigs go, VR at Hordern Pavillion would have to have been the roughest crowd of any gig I've been to. People pushing and shoving everywhere. Still, it was worth it to be standing 1 metre away from Slash.
As for meeting Metallica, they all couldn't have been nicer.
No rock star attitudes at all
. They all took the time to talk, hang out, have photos, and sign stuff for all 20 or so people that got to meet them. Only increased my respect for them even more.

Really?. I found the VR shows at the hordern to be quite soft. I saw mainly people jumping up N down instead of headbanging or slammin. You must have been standin right next to me, coz Slash was bout the same distance from me. I got to meet Duff on the second night, was pretty cool.

The front is where moshing happens and that's the way it should be! I tried really hard to get near the front for Tallica at Download but fucked up my timing. I was avoiding Korn who were on before, which turned out to be a mistake. I pushed to about 200 yards (way back!) from the front and couldn't have got nearer without climbing on peoples heads. I could hardly see any moshing, I don't think people could move. I reckon there were over 60,000 there easy.
But yeah, pits are meant to be rough, that's the fun. Not people throwing fists or anything, I've seen that before, it's no fun.

Yeah, I've seen other people say this too, that this next album could make or break Metallica, but they've been around for 25 years like you said. And even with how many people supposedly hated their last album, they still went on to a highly successful world tour. Metallica will always have a fan base, whether it's old school fans from the beginning, or people who discovered the band later into their career.
So I'm curious too Izzy, what exactly is this Metallica's last chance at?

I nearly had a car crash yesterday. I was driving along when I saw a big poster on the side of a building that had METALLICA in huge bold writting. I swerved and slamed the brakes on and a billion cars around me which i didnt see coz I saw this thing on the wall. I went nuts about it coz I thought it was a New tour poster but it was only a New DVD poster. But dead set I was only inches from having a major accident. Once I realised that I shit myself.
