That's pretty awesome for Metallica to be playing all of Puppets, but I wish they'd mix up the other songs a bit more.
Oh well, can't have everything! hehe

Metallica apparently played an untitled new song at the their most recent gig. Reports so far are saying it was around 8 minutes long and had plenty of double-bass parts.

Taken from Blabbermouth.net:

METALLICA Debut New Song At Berlin Concert
Metallica premiered a brand new song during their headlining appearance Tuesday (June 6) at Waldbuhne in Berlin, Germany. According to several fans that attended the gig, the as-yet-untitled track is about eight minutes long with a "killer main riff" and "lots of double-bass parts."

As on the first two dates on the band's current "Escape From The Studio '06" tour, METALLICA played their entire 1986 album, "Master of Puppets", at the show, including rarely performed tracks such as "Orion" and "Disposable Heroes". The concert's second encore also featured a rendition of the RAMONES classic "Commando", with members of support band AVENGED SEVENFOLD joining in on vocals.

The group's setlist for the Berlin show was as follows:

01. Motorbreath
02. Fuel
03. Wherever I May Roam
04. (Untitled New Song)
05. The Unforgiven
06. Battery
07. Master of Puppets
08. The Thing That Should Not Be
09. Welcome Home (Sanitarium)
10. Disposable Heroes
11. Leper Messiah
12. Orion
13. Damage, Inc.
- - - -
14. Sad But True
15. Nothing Else Matters
16. One
17. Enter Sandman
- - - -
18. Commando (RAMONES cover; with AVENGED SEVENFOLD on vocals)
19. Seek and Destroy

"Master of Puppets" came out in the spring of 1986 and was METALLICA's first gold album and mainstream success. It featured staples of the band's live set such as "Battery", "Welcome Home (Sanitarium)" and the title track.

It was also the last METALLICA album to feature bassist Cliff Burton, who was killed later that year in a tour bus crash.

METALLICA will head back into the studio to resume work on their ninth studio effort after completing this summer's festival run.

Thanks to some Metallica friends I have on the net, I've now heard the live recording of the new, untitled Metallica song and here's what I thought from first listen:

Well it's certainly all over the place - fast, slow, fast, heavy, melodic, slow, groovy, back to 100 miles an hour double-bass!
To be honest, it seemed like the song needed some direction, but that was just from first listen.

It's certainly fucking heavy though!

It seems as though they've taken the heaviness they re-discovered on St. Anger and mixed it with And Justice For All song structures and Load-style vocals. And Kirk's soloing, along with the riffs and Lars drumming is some of the most intense I've ever heard from the band, it's awesome!

Kirk plays his solo with the wah (like he does all his solos these days), but there's some super-fast shredding in there.

I don't know if this will silence all the Metalli-bashing from the last 15 years, but I'm very impressed. ok

where exactly do i find it? I don't understand dutch or german or whatever language that is Undecided any help would be appreciated thanks!! ok

The new song is ok....kinda reminds me of a song off load or something...biggest thing is there is a solo so that makes me happy....it's really long though...maybe too long for the lack of inticate guitar work....1 - 30 second solo in a 10 minute song...hmmm nervous

EDIT: Fuck I'm a dick.....thanks for the uploads Shoco!!!! ok beer smoking

I was optimistic, but I can't say I like this new tune at all. It's a work in progress though, so we'll see - It's hard to judge. But for now... I give it a thumbs down.
