I can't believe how stupid this thread has turned.
Some of you need to really think before you post. GN'R discussions in a Metallica thread, is that necessary? Insults, which are against the rules, is that smart?
You get the idea (or maybe you don't).
We don't have any problems deleting stupid pointless posts that were just posted to increase your postcount.

mettalica fucnking rocks. I wopuld say they have some of the best if not the best epic rockers ever.. I was just blasting master of puppet's album on my stereo, battery MOP, sanitarium... Their first 5 albums ruled.. I do not like the two songs I heard off st anger though.. SOngs like fuel and until it sleeps are cool rockers just not anything great like the old days

I don't recall hearing about James being in rehab in 2000.
But maybe he was
When did he go into rehab. I know he was in before St Anger

he went in in summer 2001.
Then the band got back at some point in 2002 ,to fish up work on the album .

I Disappear was written and recorded in a short time frame in 2000 specifcally for the MI2 soundtrack.
And I don't think it sounds like anything off the Load albums, it sounds like nu-metal whereas Load & Reload sound like blues based hard rock.

The band are still on a break, no word on when they'll be back together working on a new album except for "later this year".

Outrageous!
I'd say it sounds far more like the Black album material - it has that extra punch that load stuff lacks, but it was rather 'radio-friendly' so i can certainly see where your coming from - but seeing Lars fall from a skyscraper, wasn't that the icing on the cake?

METALLICA frontman James Hetfield will be on hand at Yankee Stadium tonight (June 24) for the the kick-off of the second round of the Subway Series (New York Mets vs. New York Yankees), according to The New York Times. The Yankees have reportedly arranged for Hetfield to meet with Yankees closer Mariano Rivera, who enters games with "Enter Sandman", a METALLICA hit, playing on the loudspeakers.
Hetfield is a friend of New York Yankees pitcher Randy Johnson, and Johnson warms up to a compilation of music that Hetfield assembled for him.

Does that mean his performances is have steadily declined since about 1996?

Metallica is a band with egos out of control that has to be on top of everything so they kiss ass for whatever it takes to be that way. I would rather hear a weaker version of Master of Puppets or Ride the Lightninig than crap like Load or St.Anger. Speaking of the album Load, what kind of asshole band takes a picture of thier semen on a glass object and uses it for an album cover?

Got a Metallica biography/scrapbook called
So What: The Good, The Mad, The Ugly
. I've fairly little interest as to what those guys are up to these days, but I could see straight away that the book was very well put together, so I decided to buy it nonetheless. So far it seems like quality material, and there's a lot of interviews from the So What -fanzine that I haven't seen before. A good summer read I reckon.
