I'm not sick of it because I've only listened to it once or twice. And I don't feel financially scarred because I'm a rich fuck.

and u cant say they dont have it anymore..the montreal show sold out in three hours.
They don't have it any more at producing good NEW music - their old stuff still rocks and there great live (apparently) but when it comes to writing new albums...oh dear
For all this criticism of Metallica's 90's work - there worst album was and justice for all - even load and reload never sink that low - and the worst moment of St Anger still beats AJFA

I like St. Anger. It's different, not the greatest, but it's still good music. I also think ... And Justice For All is one of their best albums, so who knows, maybe I'm just nuts.

Any BAND that pretends to be ANGRY and VIOLENT towards each other so they can make money selling a documentary on the big screen is no better then Spinal Tap.
Think of it they could of made a documentary for their fans for free on their website or on VH1 or something of that nature, but instead they want MORE MONEY. Napster back in the day barelly hurt Metallica, bands with one hit wonders were the ones who were gonna loose money, because they live off their one big hit. Lars is in it for one REASON MONEY.
If they wanted to be Cool and Rock Stars without regards like in the 80's they wouldnt of been selling out everything they can, The are the second biggest sell-outs behind KISS.
THERE I SAID IT!

I will glady explain my views to u
First the production
Its terrible - that awful drum sound! It sounds like the drums where written for an entirely different album - they are totally out of place and way too loud - (what the hell is Lars hitting anyway...)
The guitars - after about 18 mins of the same boring riff i felt like throwing something at the cd player - where are Hammett's great solo's? They are so uninspired its painful. Again the guitar tone is just odd - i find it really annoying
'One' - okay its the best song here but as with all the others maybe its technically good but its so dull......
The whole album sounds like they've tried to fuse 'Black' with 'Master of Puppets' - yet lose what was good about both
This album is barely metal - its slow and pendantic
I gotta say my main grievance with it is the production and those damn drums! A truly painful listening experience

I can understand everything you've said about the production, but as for calling it 'barely metal' and 'playing 18 minutes of the same riff'.. I just don't get that stuff. To me Shortest Straw is the only song there that's a bit boring, and the rest is pure gold. To Live Is To Die is simply sublime!

That's like saying Mother Theresa is ten times worse than Nero.
And no I am not sick of St. Anger because I never liked it! What were they thinking?...

This is one of my favorite quotes:
"The way i look at it is st anger was more of them just venting and getting their negative emotions out so that they can kick some ass in the next album."
LOL, so it sucks because it was a therapy session for the guys...next one is gonna kick ass!
I mean, it's ok to admit you don't like the music your favorite band just put out. It's ok to admit that!

Wait a minute. Hammett's great solos? Hammett has never written a great solo in his life (ok fade to balck is pretty good, but there's always an exception to the rule). Mindless repetetive shred is what Hammett does, but it's not even proper shred, because shred is good guitar playing, all hammett does is repeat three note triplet patterns.
Hammett is a hack, plain and simple.

Steven's drumming made the band; he made a big musical difference. His sense of swing was the push and pull that gave those songs their feel, afterwards, nothing worked.

Very few albums are a bad as St. Anger, and very few are as great as Justice. Justice could be compared to the GnR Illusions. It's very different from the debut and follow ups, but very good in its own way. Yet, there are still too many close minded lemmings who bash it because they aren't mature enough to enjoy it.
I actually like the drum sound of St. Anger. What makes it a weak album is the lack of solos and ridiculous song length. Justice songs were well composed, but St. Anger songs just drag on and on and on...
And are much better live.
That's one thing I can say positive about St. Anger. Those songs are good played fast live.

Hammet does what he does well enough. He is much more skilled than Lars or any bassist after Cliff died. I have nothing against Metallica for being a little slower and less technical than Megadeth. It's the 90's stuff that disappoints me.
I'm beginning to suspect Izzy just downloaded the title track at 32 kbps and dismissed the whole album on that experience.

I remember hearing the song St Anger I thought cool I liked that song I thought the album wasn't gonna be whole one noise I wished they did something different on it I hope they realize they didn't make the album that they thought we was gonna love and go back and do something different like go back to there roots a bit and make a better record thats my problem with St. Anger its one noise the songs are the same and thats why I dont like it. I watched the dvd with cd and I was so bored watching dvd.

No, i do have the full album (i want my ?15 quid back!) i have been listening to it again of late.
The bit that kills me is the first 30 seconds of the first track - that great guitar intro then the drums kick in...argh! Those drums sound awful then that riff...if ever there was something to turn me against guitar rock than that was it.
I don't think i have listened to the album all the way through more than once - after 5 tracks i checked my cd player expecting to find i was still on track one - the hell? They all sound so alike i didn't even notice it was a different song!!
Ed. been listening to the title track....oh god. So repetive....over and over again.....so boring, put in a solo, change the riff slightly - do anything just don't repeat the same bit over and over again for 9 mins 44 secs!!!!!

The title track isn't that good, but how you could hate Blackened is beyond me. I find it far superior to the overly catchy and happy Battery. Maybe you're just a Dyer's Eve type of person. Metallica never played faster.

Have you been ripped off by buying St. Anger??
Does it financially scar you??
Does it embarass you??
If so, don't put up with this anymore, head on to
www.encycmet.com
on the forums and complain away, me and many others have had fun doing so.
I remember about 2 years ago, a group of Van Halen message board mods & members decided to invade this place attempting to creat havoc.
Anybody remember them? There was 4 or 5 of them. They planned it out on their message board then attacked.
They got their asses handed to them......then jarmo made them take their ball and go play on their own court.
Kinda like the group of guys that come to invade a party then end up on the front lawn dazed and confused......bruised and battered.
