'Death Magnetic' is probably the best hard rock/metal album released in over a decade....and the fact that it has dominated the planet earth despite a shortened release week and album leak proves the point even more...It going to go down as the best record of 2008 by far...unless of course..... Further proof that people will buy "GREAT" music and it isn't the Downloaders/pirates that have killed the music industry, its the horrible, shitty bands they sign and put out.

Watch the VMA's and u will see exactly why record sales are down. It ain't the downloaders, its the fact that today's new artists are soul less, and talent less that sing simplistic bullshit that no one connects to over shit noise and a beat.

Great music still sells.

'Stop filming our gig on your bleedin' mobile phones'
Tuesday September 16, 2008

Metallica frontman James Hetfield has had a right old moan about people who film gigs on mobile phones.

More power to his (occasionally broken) elbow, say we at the Clog!

Hetfield told fans to forget about uploading videos of Metallica's show at the O2 Arena in London last night on to YouTube.

He barked: ?Put the fucking cameras away, put the phones away. A shitty clip of us on YouTube won't make you famous."

?James's basic message was 'just be in the moment and enjoy it',? said Classic Rock's Sian Llewellyn, who was there at the show.

"Incidentally, my Tesco Pay-As-Go mobile (balance: 37p) never left my handbag," she insisted.

But, yeah - 'enjoy the moment'. Just like we used to do in the old days, before expensive Nokias replaced studded wristbands on gig-goers' arms.

To their credit most of the O2 crowd obeyed Hetfield (let's face it, who wouldn't?) and put their cameras away.

Hetfield's comment came a day after it was revealed that Metallica cancelled an interview with a Swedish mag after one of their journalists, the amusingly named Jonn Jeppsson (no relation to J'onn J'onzz, the Martian Manhunter), admitted to illegally downloading the band's new album.

What do YOU think? Should the filming of gigs on mobile phones be banned? We at the Clog say? indubitably!

I agree with James. People are so caught up in talking on cell phones and recording shit that they forget to "Experience" what they came to experience.

I have to agree with James on this one. The mobile phone recordings are complete shit and its not like you can record the whole show on a phone.

I like bands who use all wireless instruments and tell you to turn off your phones cause it can cause problems with instruments on stage. I think all bands should make that announcement even if its true or not.

It doesn't concern James or anyone what a person do at a concert... If I want to pay a ticker to a concert and just hear it from the bathroom it's my option... If people decide to record a little of the concert with a cellphone to remember later it's their option too

Well Metallica offers full downloads for all their shows, so bootleging them is pointless.

Nah i don't think its pointless. I like the sound of a really good audience recording opposed to a soundboard recording.

I like to take pics at concerts for myself, not for youtube, i think it's great after a few years has passed and you look at those pics. even tho I dig Jame's and its true, while you are taking those pictures you are compromising the experience, but also it depends, if you do it a couple of times it's fine, but if you just take pictures the whole show, then it's different.
