Does anyone know why Metallica has such a hard on for europe? They have been there every year for the last 3 years.

We often pay a good 20-40% more than the American retail price - Metallica at Wembley cost the equivalent of $100 each

I'm a bin concerned about ticket prices when Metallica do finally come back. In 2004 tickets for the non Big Day Out shows were $130 so I'm thinking around $150 by the time they get here.

Axl would beg to differ. In fact, so would a lot of big bands - The Stones, Van Halen...nostalgia sells out arenas in the US. Metallica go to Europe for the festivals as already mentioned, means they don't have to deal with the organization themselves.

U can run a tour or so, but u aren't gonna run a bunch of huge successful tours. Successful being the key word

Motley Crue for instance did awesome in arenas, but if they don't release a new album, Im not sure they would sell out every place again.

U can play smaller arenas but u aren't gonna sell out stadiums and huge shows in the US without some new music consistently.

http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/news/general_music_news/dave_grohls_open_letter_to_metallica.html

Former Nirvana drummer and current Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl has released the following "open letter" to Metallica:

"Dear Metallica,

"Hey, it's Dave! Remember me? Yeah, I'm the guy that's been listening to your band faithfully since 1983. I bought your first album 'Kill 'Em All' from a mailorder catalogue called Under The Rainbow, I think. Actually I can't remember. It was 1983 for Christsakes! But that album changed my life and I've been listening to your albums ever since (even 'St Anger'!).

"I can't wait to hear the new shit, and no matter what you guys do I'll always be first one at the shop waiting to hear it. I'm sure you'll come out and blow everybody's fuckin' minds, because you're fuckin' Metallica!

"Good luck. And don't release it until it's kick-ass.

"Yours, Dave Grohl.

"P.S. Are you finished recording the drums yet?"
