i was laughing alot, especially when axl dropped the f-bomb, he was telling a pretty funny story, got really into it and forgot for a sec he was on radio.  just an unexpected awesome night, i never heard a better interview.  although it was really a traditional interview, it was like hey axls here, and then its like sitting with your friends drinking a few beers and remembering all the good times you had

Was it Axl doing Gene? I thought that was Trunk.

I lost it big time when Axl did "DUDE!" and equally lost it on the Wes/Bas exchange.

I also thought Bas' retelling of the time with Axl in the Benz, cranking "I Wanna Be Somebody" buying caviar was funny as fuck.

With all of Axl's rants and reclusivness, he just seemed so 'on' during that whole time. We really have to give it up. He's a week away from relaunching the monster again, and he couldn't have sounded more down to earth and carefree.

WASP so ruled back in the day. Saw them on the Last Command tour. DUDE.

not sure if anyone else caught this, i didnt when i was listening live but i did when i downloaded it:

(when mike piazza calls in)

Axl: Wait what team does he play for? the padres or the pirates?

this references the fact that mike released irs.  no one else caught the joke though, as they answered padres.  axl is so witty!  anyway just thought id mention that.  also when mike said I listened to gnr before it hit the charts.  and axl goes, I KNOW!

Mornintrain,
I caught the "Pirate" reference as well.  Hilarious.  Axl is one funny mother-fucker.  hihi
The whole thing was amazing.  Thanks so much ryboflavin and company.  Goddamn that was awesome.  The talk of overtime fees was hilarious!  I also loved the Bas knocking out Izzy's brother story.

Oh wait!  Another one, "Yeah, let's see, it's been 13 years, 40 days...time to call Baz!"   rofl

i was at that Nassau Coliseum show in 1991, so Axl giving the back story on being suicidal that night and snapping out of it to finally show up close to midnight. Then he came on stage and blamed the whole thing on management -- priceless. Bach also reminding me they did "Youth Gone Wild" twice that night cracked me up. Concert ended at like 2:30 am--what a great night.

I just listened to the phone call, & Sebastian Bach getting so excited about everything is hilarous.  He's like a little kid on Christmas morning, which I can totally understand!  I loved the whole thing, I just wish there hadn't been so many people trying to talk at one time.  The part about Axl on a skateboard was pretty funny, but I think my favorite was his "I was in the shower" excuse.  He was what - 2 or 3 hours late?  Reminds me of this great Eddie Izzard bit where he's talking about excuses little kids use - "I was on the moon - with Steve!"   hihi

Most of you got the funniest parts mentioned (DLR is my fave) but Axl talking about the "overtime fees" is totally hysterical.

Not sure if I agree about the Padres/Pirates thing....It didn't sound like he was making a joke, but pretty clever if that was the case.  Just glad he didn't make fun of me buccos, we've already got such a pathetic team we don't need Axl Rose making fun of the team! haha.

GREAT interview, I really hope people get to hear this - I think amongst rock fans this has got to be one of the biggest things to happen in the last 5-6 years.  I just love how spontaneous it was - Is it me, or did it feel like you were right in the room with them, having a beer and listening to their stories and talking about which bands/songs kick ass.

"Axl, my girlfriend went up there with Izzy and I've been here waiting..."
"Man, I think you're gonna have to wait a lot longer than that"  hihi

Also, the skateboard parts, and the impersonation, everything!

Elton John " I'm a gay man!"

Axl "Cool. So when we go to the bridge......."

Just the way he told it and the part where someone is waiting for his girlfriend who just went with Izzy was hilarious too, the voice Axl did was just hilarious.

I have to agree that "Dude, why you being such a dick?" had me laughing for hours

That sounds like just a bit of an exaggeration.? It was amusing but if you were laughing for hours you must amuse quite easily. smoking

What amused me most was the voices actually.? I have heard Jimmy Iovine speak on television before and I thought it sounded like him.? And like rhiad said the dude why you being such a dick.....I also loved the great izzy stories portraying Izzy as a eccentric, thrill seeking adrenaline junkie.? The one about him parachuting and shooting stuff with uzi's just created an insane visual in my head and "dude, i thought that guy had like the worst case of herpes I had ever seen!"
