Bla bla bla, we've been discussing this for six years now, okay?? The album is always 4-5 months away...?
rotfl
yeah. that's why I'm kinda worried. there's no guarantee that the album will be out this fall.
P.S. not only did axl say that the album will be out in summer 2001, he also said in 2002 that the album will be out by summer 2003
I think I see a pattern. 2006....
But shortly after that he said at the VMA's that soon wasn't the word. So, if Axl doesn't change his mind in the next few weeks maybe we'll be in the clear.

I don't recall Axl Rose in print or audio format ever saying when the record would be out. Other then last night I think everything was just plain fan/press speculation.
If someone wants to post a link to official words from Axl with these supposed promised dates, I'm sure we'd all appriciate it.

I dont keep a record, and even if I did, I wouldnt bother looking it up to prove to you that I'm telling the truth.
but in 2001, the single and the album were scheudled. Single for spring and the album for june.
in 2002 he said that they'll do the warmup tour, then go back to the studio start the real tour in spring, and release the album in summer 2003.
it all fell to pieces.

Sounds familiar... I'm just playing to the rock n roll gods that all goes well for the next 2 weeks. After that, It'd be nice to have an album, but we need to just take one step at a time.

Again, I think that's always been record company and internet rumors, never from Axl. If anyones got any sort of proof of Axl saying when the record would definately be out anytime prior to last night, I'd love to see it.

In My opinion axl put out those releases for publicity and hes gonna come out with a record of completely different material and those such as better TWAT , IRS, and Catcher are all donna be on the second and third CD's.. Its Possible. I know what ur ssaying. "he said that the new leaks we on the CD" but its possible although there new material they could be on the second/third CD
My theory

Right but that has what to do with him ever promising a date for the release of the Chinese Democracy album?

Stop your complaining. In 91 Axl did an entire US leg (Get In The Ring Tour) without an album as the warm up. Then Europe got the album?

Axl in 2002 also said to Kurt L. " Its hard to replace everyone from the ground up because G'n'R was so big. "
The only times anyone has said 5 to 6 months away its been Tommy Stinson.I have never seen Axl Rose confirm anything release wise .

Actually how that went is like this:
Kurt "So does this mean we'll finally see the album soon?"
Axl "You'll see it. I don't know if soon is the word."

stop the excuses.
he said he'll be back in 2002 with a bunch of new songs.
he wasnt back in rio in 2002, and at the places he did show up, there were no new songs.
? ?...not to add to the flaming you've gotten, but...
? ?what really surprises me is that Axl gets shit from fans for:
?
? ?1) not releasing CD in 2002/2003
? ?2) lack of communication w/ fans/press, etc.
? ?last night, we've had a monumental fucking moment, when Axl, casually...and this is what i think MUST be underlined...CASUALLY (hell he almost volunteered) to come down to a radio station that leaked IRS years ago (not sure of exact date), relaxed and answered most of the major questions that have gotten X number of threads on HTGTH...
?
? ?not only does Axl satisfy point 2) and tells you the likely release date for CD, but he volunteers information that he could've easily kept to himself (Izzy possibly jamming at the NY shows, more Europe dates, reunion rumours, etc).
? ?you all know Axl's attitude when it comes to stuff not going his way. Christ that WAS Axl in the old GNR days, and he's the same person. the fact that the 2002 concert got cancelled, was obviously a consequence of Axl getting pissed at something that happened with CC or hell, even Interscope/Geffen.
?
? ?after all those riots, bad press, you think Axl would've wanted to release CD under those conditions? (pretty much at the behest of the record company that he's reigned in for what, the past 10 years?)
? ?my take is that unlike in 2002 (and i may be wrong, so please correct me), Axl is making himself more and more visible, songs have leaked at convenient times, shows are popping up left and right. He's comfortable with this moment (read: year), enough that i really think CD will come out this year.
? ?let's not complain that they're working on the 2nd, or 3rd album. this shows that Axl & co. are actually getting together and pushing forward as a band, and have some sort of future plans. what, you wanted them to release CD, tour, then have Axl go back to his Brian Jones status and not come out for another decade?
? ?let's give Axl a big ?
for what transpired last night on the radio...and stay as optimistic as all you (i'm sure) were during each rumour-phase of GNR's new phase...
? ?
