i learnt 3 things!

thats one of the longest interview's Axl has ever done, even in appetite days

He's in good spirts and i think this will go well for the tour!

the guy is happing doing it this way, with the new band etc. he should be left alone to do this.

lets all sit back and enjoy the shows!!!!!!!!

Live!! From Burning Hills, Wellington...

« Reply #81 on: May 07, 2006, 07:14:07 AM »

although alot of positives seem to have come from this, in the back of my mind I'm still disappointed with what to me, seems like a very non-committal approach to releasing the album.

They're still working on new songs that have yet to be recorded? The tracklist doesn't seem remotely close to finalisation? A vague promise of fall, or late fall?

It appears to me, that CD is still some way away

Hey Jimmy, I thought I was the only one who was disappointed in that. Sure, this is a fantastic interview, laughed my ass off and I'm really glad to have heard it, but a 'fall' release date with yeah, we're still working on songs (most of them have finished lyrics  no) couldn't really make me smile. I have this eerie feeling that fall might turn into Christmas, Christmas might turn into 'maybe March', next summer.... which is unlike me, cause I was very optimistic about a summer 06 release till I heard this.

At least we'll have a tour and Axl sounded really psyched about that. There' s some comfort  ok

I know with all the crap that happened over the last 10 years or so that comment about working on new songs could cause some concern, but its really nothing out of the ordinary. Just because there are new songs being worked on doesnt mean they are songs that will hold up Chinese Democracy. Its most likely something that will be put aside until they go back into the studio whenever the tour is done.

I'm trying to be optimistic about this.

On the plus side, Axl himself said "fall...late fall."  That's as firm a time frame from an official source as we've had yet, and I'm fine with it.  The down side, as you say, is the mention of all the songs still being worked on.  Given the heavy touring, I can't see how much time can be dedicated to finishing up the record if in fact the fall release date will hold up.  Still, I'm very hopeful, as always.

What was no doubt a surprise to us all though was when Axl mentioned the band's state of mind during the Use Your Illusion records...

"Slash wanted to take over the band....Izzy was in his drugged out little world....they'd both be fighting back and forth about whose songs would get done or not get done, and all I knew was that no one's songs were going to get done if mine didn't get done..."

Already by the early 90's it sounds like the pressures of fame, relevance and stardom were under the skin of Gn'R... peace

We learnt that Eddie Trunk is a total tool.

We also learnt that the word "dude" was used WAY too much.

I'm typing up the transcript to part 2 now, and I'm at the point where I'm just leaving that shit out.

One word: SPLENDA!  Shocked Grin

Man, listening to that interview was like everyone of us aging rockers. Too many fish stories, albeit very hazy. God knows I sound the same with my friends after a few drinks.  beer

For the people on this list that are under 21-don't fight it, you are all gonna sound and act like that when you hit mid 30s and after that.

later on baz says we were "snorting alot of splenda" and some says you just ruined it or gave it away what splenda is....

I think it was thier code word they used for coke... kind of like the crue called it "krell"... Gnr and co must have called it "splenda"

I loved the interview....because it sounded like a bunch of US in the room with Axl.  They asked most of the questions we would have.

We learned that EVERYBODY is startstruck by Axl.
