found this on mygnr

In yet another Guns N' Roses related rumor going around the Internet, the latest is that drummer Matt
Sorum will rejoin Axl Rose and Guns N' Roses for the new album and a tour. The current Velvet Revolver
and ex-Cult skin-basher was amused by the reports. Sorum told us that his part in the Guns N' Roses story
seems like another person's life.

"You know I haven't really thought about Axl in a long time to be honest. You know, I kind of left that behind
me in 1996 (laughs). That's ten years ago. It was a whole lifetime ago. I was in that band, but I look at it
like it was someone else's movie. We got off the road in 1993. That was the last time Guns N' Roses played.
So it's been thirteen years since I've played in that band, really. I've done five or six albums since then, and
ten tours and Axl hasn't done sh-t, so I don't know what to tell you."

Sorum is still with Velvet Revolver, helping to write songs for the band's forthcoming album. Sorum replaced
original drummer Steve Adler in 1990, and he played on the Use Your Illusion albums, the last recordings of
all-new material released by the band.

Axl Rose has booked two New York City dates at the Hammerstein Ballroom May 15th and 17th.

If nothing else, that should squash rumors that Sorum's back in the band, yes?

Yeah man no reunion I agree. We have to respect people like Tommy, Brain, Finck and Fortus who have work hard at least for the last 5 years.

But unfortunately have nothing to show for it thus far.

I agree, but that doesn't mean the same thing as "not doing s**t," to quote Sorum.

Sorum is such a fucking tool.

He kisses Axl's ass when he runs into him , be he is alwyas talking shit about the guy every chance he gets. LIke who are you fooling?

Sorum owes so much to Axl and GNR but loves to rip him anyway.

Id rather see anybody in the world play drums for GNR over Matt Sorum

Do we know how old this interview is? This could've been done before he met Axl in NYC.

Seems like an old quote.

It can't be that old if it references the Hammerstein shows.  Granted, the quote could be recycled...

Even if it was before, it dont matter. He still sucked up to Axl when he saw him. That would just make it worse, cause he talks shit, then he sees him and kisses his ass. Matt sucks.

Seems like an old quote.

2 Hammerstein dates? Must have been written in between on-sale dates.

Right, but still, the article can't be that old then.  Hard to say how recent the quote itself might be, though...

yup -- what he said.  It predates his meeting with Axl by quite some time.  I'm not a Sorum fan, but putting up with Axl during the UYI tour could not have been easy on anyone.  Axl was an absolute ass for much of that tour.

Sorum never said that to Axl - stop making stuff up.

He said in his blog that he told Axl that he was a great frontman "while he was in the band".

Meaning that Matt doesn't think highly of anything Axl's done since then.

They haven't been "not doing shit" because I'm sure they have worked very hard, but theres nothing in the public domain of the new band thats an official release yet, which is such a shame because they are all talented musicians. I also see where Sorum is coming from but its a pretty harsh thing to say.

Can we dig up all the quotes Axl said about Izzy? They are friends again now. It does sound like Matt changes his story a lot, but this is the entertainment business-these guys seem to say different things all the time-it's like holding Axl accountable for things he did said back in '92 or '93-I think Axl has mellowed out a lot, seems happier-anyway, were dealing with rock stars with big egos.`
