Jon Stewart Defends Colbert's Dinner Speech

By E&P Staff

Published: May 01, 2006 11:20 PM ET

NEW YORK Probably to no one's surprise, Jon Stewart, host of Comedy Central's "Daily Show," hailed the performance of his stablemate Stephen Colbert at Saturday night's White House Correspondents dinner. Colbert's lampooning of the president and the press has generated a good deal of praise and criticism.

Of course he did. Tongue

What else was Jon supposed to say? Their like two peas in the same pod. It would've been like the pot calling the kettle black! hihi Roll Eyes

He could have said nothing. Colbert is God.

No. If Stewart didn't like waht Colbert said, he would have said nothing. It sounded as though you were saying Stewart HAD to support Colbert when in fact he didn't.

No, not at all. That's what I mean, There's no way Stewart would've disagreed. Him and Colbet are twins of the same hour on Comedy Channel. yes

I think the best part of the evening was Bush's twin. That was funny. hihi Grin

It's funny if you prefer "Police Academy" over Lenny Bruce. Colbert was nothing short of brilliant.

I hated Police Academy and I just had to look up who Lenny Bruce was.

i saw him on meet the press today. he had alot of good things to say about bush. they rehearsed the speech for an hour together. he said bush has great timing to his delivery of jokes.

what colbert does his hilarious. but ripping the prez at these dinners is nothing new. and it certainly doesn't take balls. that's why he was invited.
