Lets see....

BP at CD.com says yes.

Big Boss at Sp1at says no.

So, as with all things GnR...your guess is as good as anyone's.

Smiley
Darknemus says yes.?

I don't believe he did.? He indicated that he thought that if anything was going to happen it might happen through the gunsnroses.com site.

I NEVER saw him indicate that there were changes coming today.

Thanks mysteron....does that mean that Axl himself activated it? or it has nothing to do with GnR at all...

The activation of this web address has nothing to do with management.

it's been activated by Artist Direct, indeed... AD is reported as "tech contact" on the gunsnroses.com registration details

Well, in February of 2004, Mysteron posted in this thread:

http://www.heretodaygonetohell.com/board/index.php?PHPSESSID=3065bc4f0e379697afb5e1f16da206c8&topic=10660.0;prev_next=prev

Specifically referring to someone attempting to cybersquat gunsnroses.com - that case was filed in 2000.  My guess is that GNR won that case because you have this somewhat well known posting in 2001 over on guitarsite.com

http://guitarsite.com/newsletters/010219/16.shtml

That posting refers to the links (now dead) that had, among other things, the band pics with everyone but Axl blurred out.

So, make of this what you will - but unless something's changed with that domain between 2001 (when, btw, the WHOIS listed ArtistDirect as the technical contact, even then) and now.. (and I can't imagine GNR would 'sell' gunsnroses.com.  And if they did, ICANN rules would require the WHOIS info to match the legit owner, regardless).. I think there's something to this.

My opinion only, of course.

Found another post in regards to the website.  This time from Usenet.  It has the original WHOIS info that i'm assuming Jeff Burgar registered the domain with.  (Before GNR presumably took it over via the lawsuit in 2000)

http://groups.google.com/group/alt.rock-n-roll.metal.gnr/browse_thread/thread/948a7ab425d78ea1/8b7dbc55c2071a71?lnk=st&q=%22Jeff+Burgar%22+gunsnroses.com&rnum=1&hl=en#8b7dbc55c2071a71

Notice it was Jeff Burgar who registered it at the time.  The guy is apparently a well known cybersquatter and pretty much loses every case that someone brings against him in regard to claiming back their domain names (which is why I'm assuming he lost the case to GNR - I honestly don't know for sure if he did or not.. still researching)

Don't know:  gunsnrosesonline.com links to gnronline.com as "official site #1" and to gunsnroses.com as "official site #2" ?

But it doesn't say anything about itself. confused

It's just so odd - The site is super slick and detailed... but still a mystery. And that artwork is hella nice.

www.gunsnrosesonline.com is NOT official. It is a FAN made site from a dude from Belgium

The site your looking at is 'old' design. Meaning he had it there before. And yes it looks great but it's not official

In all threads before, the conclusion always was "not official".

But damn, it looks professional. And there is space left for interesting stuff.
