« on: April 28, 2006, 07:57:36 PM »

Ok, I wasnt a fan during 02 and I hav tix for hammerstein on the 15th I am SO excited, just got my tickets today. Just Curious what were start times like on previous tours, like in the UYI tour and 2002 tour, were GNR typically late, or were they just late to like a couple shows and the media flipped out about it. I'm really curious about this, anyone who has been to a Guns show please respond!!!!

Approximate starting time on the UYI tour was about 11 pm, sometimes even 12. The approximate starting time on the '02 tour was between 10 pm and 10:45 pm. MSG was the exception where they went on at 9:30 pm. So, probably expect it to be a late start. Who knows, maybe Axl will be a different man this time around.  hihi

I believe it was before 10 central time for the Chicago '02 show as well. IIRC around 9:45-9:50. Anyone who went remember?

Well, the warm up show in Vegas prior to Rio, they came on at 3:20 AM ish........ hihi

I do believe there are some pretty stringent union rules in NYC, and I think if shows go past midnight it gets really really expensive for the performer.

at least 1 to 2 hours after the scheduled time Wink

so since it says 7:30 for the NYC shows, it will be about 9:00 when Axl hits the stage

The union rules in NYC actually kick into action at 11-- Pearl Jam spent something like 40 k at MSG for going past this time.  Dream Theater truncated their show a great deal to get done at 11:01 and that was being shot for a DVD and was there 20th Anniversary show.  It's not an arena to arena thing either, apparently it its every place in NYC

When I saw them in Minneapolis and Fargo they were on around 10:30.   In 93 they came on around 10.

You forget that once Axl's on stage, he's the boss. If he decides to leave after one song, there's no stopping him. If he decides to play one hour longer, after curfew time, there's no stopping him. He's still Axl after all.  Smiley

Bingo!

Didn't he extend one of the '02 Europe gigs past "curfew"? I thought I remembered a little rant on a bootleg (can't remember which one now) about this....

Axl explained it best himself in Mr Brownstone:

The show usually starts around seven
We go on stage around nine
Get on the bus about eleven
Sippin' a drink and feelin' fine

And then this probably tell us why he is late all the time:

I get up around seven
Get outta bed around nine
And I don't worry about nothin' no
Cause worryin's a waste of my...time

He is not even up from the bed when the show is supposed to begin !!   rofl

We've discussing this in other threads and we've all taken guesses. I actually made betting squares for my friends and I and the pot is over $100 right now and it's still two weeks on from the show!

My bet stands on 9:45.....and for the record, Axl will play past whatever curfew they try to set on him.

Doesn't it say somewhere like on the Hammerstein website or something that the doors open at 7:30 and the show is at 9? That's not to say Uncle Axl is hitting the stage at 9, but I thought I read that somewhere. I could be crazy. SO FUCKING CRAAAAZZYYY hihi

I haven't looked on the website in a long time but I remember it saying doors were at 7:30. I can't remember if it lists a show time, but in any case, thats the usual start time for the headliner when doors are 7:30.

Please tell me that there is some sarcasm here?!?  More importantly, didn't the MSG show end around midnight...?  I can remember walking out of the show, but not the actual time.
