In Chicago, it's been positive on Mancow's Morning Madhouse and somewhat negative on Brandmeier's show on the Loop. Otherwise, there was a late night Q101 dj was mentioned the new songs and was pretty positive.
Mancow said something positive?! That dirty conservative never says anything positive. He's a douche...just looking at him makes me ill

Another boring thread you coulda posted here...
http://www.heretodaygonetohell.com/board/index.php?topic=28987.0
Im tired of people messing up this forum with useless threads.
wow! you're so cool, can i be like you when i grow up?
apparently, quite a few people care or are interested in this topic. hello? mongo? that's what these boards are for! discussing GNR and anything and everything about them.
what i heard was relevant. and important. others have heard the same nonsense. while the end result is the music, pop cred and cool factor in the eyes of young america will play a factor. you can count on it. if OMG was well received and got tons of airplay and the kids dug it, you don't think axl would've used that as a springboard? instead, he went back underground.
so. you don't like the topic. good. hit the road and let others discuss. besides, i think powerpuff girls are on and you don't want to miss that.

Well, while driving home during last night's rush hour, 93 rock here in Miami cranked out SCOM. When it was over, the disc jockey mentioned that "rumor has it" axl's new band will be playing in NY (duh, confirmed ya nipplehead!)
Then she started ranking on his bloated face, calling him a hermit and the fact he's had a ton of surgeries and looks ridiculous, laughing all the way (while some of it is certainly based in reality, this chick had obviously written him off for good).
She was making a laughingstock of him. Is this crap happening in other markets? What's the word on the radio in other cities? This kinda banter isn't gonna help them one bit with younger audiences...they'll see him as an old, pathetic has-been.?
Yawn.
In the past five years, look at who has come and gone--Kid Rock, Limp Bizkit, Creed, Godsmack...and a million others.
No one gives a shit about them, but Axl is still relevant, he's still a star.
Only two weeks to go!
yawn.
and burp.
if you think Axl is as relevant as a band like godsmack (who i totally think sucks and is basically a weak AIC COVERBAND) right now,in the eyes of most young rock fans, you're nuts. it's sad but true.
The album needs to kick serious ass after all these years to win people back, and lure in new listeners. but that is for a different discussion.

Awhile back on 105.9 in Miami, Doc Reno had just played a Bon Jovi song and this what right around the time the JBJ had made some remarks about Axl. So Doc says that the two of them should do "Celebrity Deathmatch" then in his fake boxing announcer voice:"....And in this corner representing NJ, and arena football, Jon Bon Jovi! And in this corner, representing Botox and hair transplants, Axl Rose!" He then said he thought Jon would win the fight. Kinda harsh.

Disc jockeys spin records dictated by their station owners. Artists create. Who would

Face the reality: Axl is a fucking weirdo who dances to a different tune. Plus he now looks like the baseball player McGwuire, whatever his name was. Axl looks NOTHING like he did before. So he invites the critics.
As they say, lie in the bed you made....

I agree, he has brought all of this on himself. If/when CD is released, all that may change. But the fact remains, as much as i love the music and believe in what he's trying to do, to most people he is just that guy who ruined guns n roses and replaced slash with a bucketman. I don't agree with that, but i can see why a lot of people do. If CD is a hit, which if released it certainly will be if the leaks are any indication, alot of the bad press will stop.

the dj's on MMR in philly are always trashing axl. especially Jackson (Jaxon?), who is probably the creepiest DJ i've ever had to listen to. I bet this guy parks his car outside of local highschools just to watch the little girls walk by. The dude really comes off as a pedophile.
Seriously though, the morning show guys, preston & steve trash axl when ever they go over guns news (they even talked about the letter from the old manager that called weiland untalented and they complained that weiland is waaaaaaaaaaay more talented then axl rose, which is rediculous).
when IRS leaked they played a portion of it a couple times and all the djs trashed it. then immediatly after trashing it they would only take calls from listeners who shared their opinions on the song to create further negative spin on it (it was obvious that they were stacking the opinion deck here when you could hear Jaxon ask his producer what the concensus was and she had said half and half - yet after the comercial break the only opinions you heard were extremely negative). this incident led a friend of mine to write him an email, which he read on the air. it goes as follows:
"Before you trash new music that has potential for being great like this
Guns N' Roses song I heard, explain to me what demented yardstick of
quality you use that rates bands like Seether and Audioslave so high? I
assume you would go the route of "blah blah Axl's a jerk... he cancels
concerts... can't release an album... it took 15 years for this?!? blah
blah" So before you go that route, take an extra 15 seconds or so to
possibly develop an opinion that might be interesting, rather than parrot
quips from every music gossip column that has ever wrote anything about
Axl since about 1995."
Jaxon immediatly did a little back peddling, stating that he thinks axl is very talented and chinese democracy is probably going to be a great album, he just isnt fond of IRS.
What I find so humourous about all this is that this same dj, when interviewing Dizzy a month later mentioned the leaked demos, he was talking them up and saying that the radio station had them in heavy rotation until they were ordered by sanctuary not too.
what a two faced ass goblin.
MMR (the radio station that also interviewed Tommy Stinson last month) has yet to say anything about the New York shows. They are very anti axl, and if they werent philly's only decent station I wouldve written them off for their behaviour over this whole New Guns situation.

what kind of a pathetic pedophile is this? he should die or something.
the hate for axl is ridicilous, and has always been so unjust.
no wonder he can't stand the media.
it's a shame, CD could be the greatest album ever made and ignorant losers in the press and elsewhere will still trash it. sad.
axl never got the recognition he deserved in the media. too many ignorant journalists, there should be more people like kurt loder out there.

who the fuck cares what some idiots hiding behind a mic and thinking they're the best critics in music have to say?
let cd out and if it's crap, that's it. if it's good it will get new younger fans into gnr. the music will speak for itself once it's out.

I just think saying axl looks bad is like saying bh just shreds, it's just pop culture almost... Right now axl is known for his apperance, hopefully he can overcome it with some rocking shows and some actual new music for the radios to play..

Here in Philly I heard that some djs bashed IRS without giving it a chance......and then puppets adopted the dj view as their own.? "Axl sounds old".? Old, huh..........how does somebody "sound old"
The fact is, my version of Chinese Democracy...............
Oh mY gOd
IRS
TWAT
Better
CITR
The Blues
Chinese Democracy
Madagascar
.............beats ANYthing placed on shelves since the late 80's.
Half are demos, half are live versions.
The demos are no doubt better now.........studio versions of the live songs are guaranteed to be better.
In the end, the music will have the last say.

Last Night on KROCK 92.3 here in NY, They played Civil War off of UYI2 and then afterward the disc jockey, Julie Slater, made mention of the 4 sold out shows in NYC and was joking around on air if Axl would show up to any of them.
I think people can joke around all they want. In 13 days, I think we'll see a brand new Axl and a brand new GNR and maybe all of the doubt would just wash away

I feel the same way. Things seem different now. Axl being in New York......3,000 miles from home......mingling and socializing.
The other members of the band having been out on the road doing interviews.
If they hit the stage at a decent time, get the cd out, rock Europe...........GNR will become a household name again.
